As a junior Capt myself, I am glad we got that fixed. It was an irritant to unity. Again, I am damaged because I (heresy) believe I make enough in the market, (yes it has declined) I prefer quality lifestyle over more dollars. Give me top rate medical, clean lines, B plan..... Certainly we all want more money, but I don't want to unfairly benefit over another demographic of the pilot group (Capt or F/O) since we as a union divides and I really lose then.
I was dissappointed with our givebacks though. I don't hear many Capts complain, 757 (I believe) is very senior Capt. But any crewmember can go to ANC and nearly double up on money.<g>

[QUOTE=Busboy;469343]Thank you. Your optimism is like a breath of fresh air. Like a breath of fresh air right out of a rhinoceros' butt.[/QUOTE
Come on, did you honestly think the company was going to pay us A380 rates for the 777 when no mention of the 777 is in the contract, we are "over manned",and we get an extra five years of pay that the union fought for and the company was against?
Read between the lines from recent ALPA emails...the company will not spend an extra dollar on pilot pay no matter what.

While I believe the company will disregard a contract at will, how are they violating the contract here? The old contract said "A-380", not super-widebody or ultra-long range pay.

I guess we'll have to see what our other options are and if the crew-force will support them. However, after "our support" on the LOA votes, DP flying, and HKG bidding, I hold out NO hope. The company will dictate to us anytime they wish.
The company will do as they please and there is nothing we can do about it. Our fearless leaders set the standard during the last contract and LOA negotiations.

Time is money. If the company negotiator had agreed to 777 pay rate = 380 rate when the first week of negotiations had concluded, super. That is what EVERYONE expected/was led to believe would happen when the 777 "replaced" the 380. That time has come & gone. Time for the price to go up. Oh...sorry...just took a trip to the Bahamas for a minute...I'm back now. Absolutely, positively hope there weren't any "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" ex-partite handshake deals by the new 777 trainees outside the NC process.

All I see us learning out of this is that we had better have what we want EXACTLY spelled out in our next contract. NO more intents or we've agreed that "it" means this or we'll be scr*wed once again.

Duhhhhh!!!!!
I'm talking about pay RATES. But go ahead and bid it. I know you have it in your standing bid anyway. So does everyone else.

I'm not sure how fired up you expect us to be.
They did a "stealth bid" and the most junior 777 first officer was 600 numbers from the top.
In short: it will be an aircraft for those who choose to stay from 60 to 65. They'll find a way around the ICAO rule - they're already working on it.
So... I won't be flying it. Probably ever. How fired up should I be about negotiating yet another benefit to the old guys?
