Jack told us when we hired in that 25% of us will medical out before 60.

But it's always going to happen to the other guy, right?

Perhaps so, but if you're in your 30's or even 40's, I'd be willing to bet that although you say you'll retire at 55, you actually have no idea when you'll really retire. Lots of sh!t can happen between now and then, to cause you to reassess your options. I'm not saying that no one will retire at 55, just that if you're not within 10 or so years of that age, you really don't know. As well, by the time you get to 55, you might find that you do want to stay longer, because by then, hopefully, it will not be about the money, but about self actualization.

We realize it, we just want to be NDs at home, on the golf course, standing in a river with a fly rod, .....

but, Don't cut off your nose to spite your face is an old saying for a reason

So what are they going to do with this ULR aircraft with all over 60 pilots? MEM-EWR-MEM?

don't mind whatsoever that the 777 will pay the same as the 300 because:

"It won't effect me."

(where have I heard that before)...

Here here. Brilliant! Touche, etc... Shortsighted, yes, satisfying, most definitely.

No.. The company will keep posting vacancy bids for the 777 until they get enough under 60 folks to fill the trips. ALA HKG F/O postings. It would actually help our "manning" situation if they have to keep putting more and more pilots on that airplane.

Or like SeeDub says...Company floats LOA to restrict the right seat 777 to pilots under 60 and ALPA membership passes the LOA by a wide margin.

I think it would pass by a larger margin, if the left seat was restricted to under 60.

Speaking of "over/under 60"...Anyone know how that is being handled now? With as many over 60 SIBA guys as we have...It surely must have happened.
