Yes, there are many things that can be better at UPS but I am happy with it.

The reason most people stay once hired at UPS is because of the fat paycheck and time off once you make senior F/O and Captain, and now stability post 9-11. I mean, about 98% of the furloughed American and Delta guys hired back in the 90's went back when the recalls came. They knew something.

WELL THEN JUST QUIT YOU BABY! I am so sick of you primadonnas doing nothing but *****ing all night about every frigging thing from how "unsanitary" the cafeteria is to how much better it was at your former legacy carrier THAT IS IN BANKRUPTCY furloughed you was! I know there is a lot of room for improvement at UPS no doubt. I am not ignorant. I am realistic. You all want the company to kiss your ass all day long, give you 1 day of flying with 1 leg a month and pay you $400,000 because you are so God damn special. Do what you can to change thing at UPS and if you can't, make the best of it because let me tell you....I worked at 2 other carriers that pulled the same $hit UPS does and UPS is by far the best company I have worked for. If you want kumbaya, go to SWA and let me move up a number you high maintenance *****es!
P.S. The ASC is a dump? You guys that worry about what our file room looks like need a life. Maybe UPS should give you a Louis Vouitton overnight bag too Mr. Ritz Carlton
Now off to anger management.

Right On!
Where is the work ethic in the good old USA?
Yeah, I also do not like some things at UPS, but in the end it is very stable.
Who cares if the ASC is like a gulag at night. Look at what will be there with a new contract and at your retirement. I will be OK in the end. I guarantee it.

I agree with you about UPS being the best company I have worked for in an aviation capacity, hands down. That does not mean there is nothing to improve on. There's alot to improve on. We chose to work at UPS, however, that doesnt necessarily mean that we should be happy with the shortcomings of our agreement as its always a work in progress. I have no illusions about us all singing kumbaya. Thats not gonna happen at UPS, FDX or numerous other places. Our agreement and negotiations with the company is business, plain and simple. They want to get us as cheaply as possible and we want to get the most we can for our services, business. If it doesnt work out for me or I eventually want something better I will do something else. I am free to make that choice. No drama or argument from me there, but that doesnt mean that we should not try to improve our lifestyle in service to the company. In your own business or in other carreers you try to get the best deal that you can get and its an on going process. Why should this be any different?
None of us should depend solely on a corporation for our carreer satisfaction or financial stability yet most of us do. I merely pointed out things that I was not happy with, and yes, there will always be something. Some of it is a big deal, some of it no big deal at all. I could care less what the ASC looks like or what the food in the cafeteria looks like, but thats me, I have different priorities.
I go to work, do my job to the best of my ability. Sometime thats in-line with what the company wants from me, sometimes they will have heartburn with a decision I make about safety, but thats what they pay me for. If the company wants to question me about something thats fine, I will stand by my decisions. We can debate this stuff all day long and never get anywhere.
So, maybe I am a "high maintenence *****." No reason to get all wrapped around the axle about it. I dont hate UPS and they dont hate me, its just a business relationship, We want to get the best deal we can get then continue to improve on it, and thats being realistic.
If you are completely happy with our situation I say good for you! Everyone is different. I feel that we have some very big issues that we need to fix, but thats just me. And just as you pointed out, if we cannot eventually fix it to my satisfaction I am free to go somewhere else or do something else, but that doesnt mean that I should just give up, take what I have and be happy with it. Where would the profession be if everyone thought that way?
