F Street Station: The skinny

F Street Station: The skinny
Ok, I have a call into the owner. I'm hoping he gets back to me about all this. Until then, I'm boycotting the establishment and would encourage others to do the same!
Friday night CactusCrew, myself, and a fellow UPSer(whom we'll call G) strolled into F Street around midnight-ish, ordered up some grub, and a few cocktails. Despite other posts, the bar was pretty mellow and not too crowded. Around 2am, G got up to walk outside to take a smoke. Out of nowhere and totally unprovoked some your 20 something punk blind sides our pal literally knocking his feet out from under him. The kid is quickly escorted out by a bouncer. I follow him out to figure *** was going on and expecting a fight. Some security guy shows up so I head back into the bar to check on my bud. He is on the ground, awake, but feeling severe pain in his lower back. One of the bouncers, a bartender, and an off-duty waitress proceed to get into my face and want me to get him out of the bar. I refuse and tell them to call 911 cause we're not moving him. They are trying to persuade us to leave because if they call the ambulance we'll "have like a $3000 hospital bill" They then continue to say G is faking, smiling?, probably just wants a lawsuit, or just doesn't want to leave(his plan I guess was to lay on a scummy cold tile floor as opposed to walking 50 yards to his room at the Hilton). Prior to Cactus and I getting 'escorted out' the off duty **** of a waitress slaps me twice in the face. No BS! I'd like to think I didn't kick her skanky ass because I'm a gentleman, but I think being outnumbered around 7-1 was more likely the reason. I then find that 911 had never been called, so I call myself from outside the bar. Eventually, a cop and ambulance show up, police report filed, off to the ER we go. Deductive reasoning leads me to believe this kid was friends with at least a few of the employees in question, definitely a local, and why they didn't call 911 themselves. It was really one of the most unbelievable experiences in my life because of how we were dealt with after the event occurred. If G was being a drunk *******, I'd have been the first one to say so to him and everyone else. It just wasn't the case. Diagnosis was lower back muscle strain. No xray or MRI to date... If I talk to Danny(the owner), I'll post a follow up.

Wow, that's more excitement than I've had in the last two years! What do you want to talk with Danny about? Would you consider a lawsuit? Your friend probably has a better claim though.

Well, the place was pretty much being run by 20 somethings that time of night. I'd like to see a few people or at least that chick that hit me get axed and make sure the guy knows what's going on in his place when not around. Don't want money, but have no problem costing him some by spreading the word if he doesn't want to do the right thing.

Not much to add to Slice's post. Except for the fact that I was there ... and it was that ugly.
Regardless of how the owner reacts, the place is off of my list forever. And it should be ...
As I read some of the posts from the other thread about young hockey punks after 2000-2100 ... I thought that would have been nice to know ! Because when we went in there, it was as quiet and calm as an afternoon crowd. Minus the leather jackets ! But it didn't appear like a place or a crowd to avoid at the time.
And as far as I can figure, the only thing G did wrong was to wear his leather jacket out that night. The punk that checked him was just looking for a target. G was just the first one to get up to step outside ... completely unprovoked.
But the reaction and treatment from the staff was over the top ...
"He's just faking it ..."
"He just doesn't want to get up and leave ... "
"He can move his legs, get him out of here ... "
"I'm a waitress and have been knocked around harder than that, he's not hurt ... "
If the only thing that happened was G got checked on his ass that night, you could have said we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. But the treatment after the cheap shot was the part that still amazes me.
Later, Brown CC

The kid was a regular. I talked to the head bartender today, she pretty much echoed what CatusCrew said. I can concur that the late night crowd has grown ugly. We only go in during the day. It used o be a real nice crew bar back in the day. Check out the Avenue, tell Tony that Dan sent you.
