Default Bar & Food Option - ANC

Having lived in ANC for a short stint, here is a suggestion for a place to go: The Peanut Farm on Int'l Airport and Old Seward. It's a taxi ride, but taxi service in ANC is good and not too expensive. The Peanut Farm is a big sports bar. It has a good variety of beer and drinks and good bar food. The staff is friendly (I've been many times). After a couple of brewskis and dinner, it's a short walk (less than 1/3 block) to Anchorage's best known "performing arts" venue. There is always a taxi queue at said venue for the trip back to the hotel.

Did you have your stupid leather jackets on, or did you just 'appear' to be dopey pilots looking for some free beer?

'flyingtom'? I think this is Danny, throwing chum in the water to lure cheap pilots back into the lion's den for a through thrashing.

I know G had been in contact with APD and they have the perps name. I don't know what has happened since. I'll post more when I find out...

I would rank ANC as #1 or #2 for most expensive taxis anywhere, and I've been to half the countries on this planet. I must admit, I have never stayed in NYC...

Many years ago they were reasonable. Then seemingly overnight they literally doubled. But if one is even contemplating driving after a couple, don't even think about it, as the APD is incredibly hard core regarding DUI. As an alternative, you can always take the magical mystery city bus tour. If you're feeling even remotely down, a ride on the ANC city bus will make you feel like a million bucks.

Or just walk by the bus station downtown. That works just as well !

I thought the whole point was not to go back to F st? As far as pp contests go, I make it a rule to never enter a contest against an unarmed man! Message received..
