Even in the dead of winter the "pilot crowd" is there from maybe 5 to 7 and very rarely are they the majority. Yes, the crowd can get ugly later on and you always take the chance of someone not liking you or your act (goes for any bar in ANC).

Sorry about you and your pals having a bad night and being treated poorly but I really don't think they will miss your business Just my opinion
Well, in my opinion you are wrong.

I know they are going to miss my $100 or so bucks Sunday. It use to be fun to go in around 5 and see who was in town, check the special, and to see if Kimmy had her drug fix or not. At least she was fun to watch (from a distance) I know many got much closer. I'm sure being poked and proded by hundreds of pilots contributed to her demeaner.

Slice, how old are you guys? Was this kid picking on the elderly?

Bottom line F-Street never gives any of us a good deal it's just a good location. Anyone ever, ever get a free beer there? My point, most of us condsidered F-street like your local bar when we are in ANC, but I had a guy point out years ago that F-Street never treats us like they appreciate our business.

So where do we start the night now? Guys are going to go where they know people (the Cheers effect) Why don't one of you smart APC guys start a poll and let's pick a new 5pm meeting place.

Hurry though, I'll be there on Sunday!

Never been in a bar fight and never will. As far as the guys that got hit, how many times do you have to read it wasn't a fight, it was an unprovoked assault? Thanks so much for your mature response where all you do is call names and make baseless accusations. Pot, kettle..you know the rest..
I wasn't referring to the incident af F-Street in itself, rather the way you young-uns keep bashing each other. What a circus!

JUST a thought, guys!

Has anyone considered getting Danny's E-mail and sending him the LINK to this THREAD? It IS in the public domain -and anyone who can 'find' it can read it.

After he reads a few pages of this and mentally does the math of all the lost airline and AF pilot business he is about to sustain; perhaps his 'businessman's sensibilities' might kick in?

The very least, reading the ripping he is taking here will give him a good case of well-deserved heartburn!

Think about it.

IF there WERE said 'smart APC guys' , you would open your OWN bar in ANC!

Having worked as a bartender between Active Duty and a flying job, I can attest that owner's 'pour' costs are REALLY cheap and there is a LOT of money in the bar business.

Of course, the fact that it might be a 'good investment' probably precludes pilots from getting involved, I guess

Interesting thread..as someone who has been on the periphery and at the aftermath of various barfights in the past (in varying official and personal capacities) I will repeat that getting involved in one is not a smart idea. Things can spin out of control very quickly and with disastrous results. No one wants to lose their medical because they were hanging out at the wrong place and got hurt, and well-bars will be bars. That said, this was an out and out assault. And no, I don't have a dog in this fight and won't get to ANC anytime soon. So Cactus and Slice have been kind enough to warn you.

As for sending the bar owner a link to this board- why bother? Based on several posts on this boards, it is clear he doesn't care and it obviously won't change things. Perhaps it might cause pilots visiting ANC more grief. Unless it's the only gig in town, which it is apparently not, why beg him to fix it? Take your money elsewhere. Even if he only loses $100 a night in recievables, that's starting to push $40K per year. Money talks, that's why lawsuits, or the threat of a lawsuit are tools of choice in this kingdom.

Question- If F Street fails, THEN where will the lowlifes hang-out?

FWIW- hang in groups, take over your own bar, use caution, have an emergency plan, and maybe most importantly, only drink heavily with people you know well. That way you won't find out someone's belligerent after a few and then you have to deal with the fallout. Well that and if you are going to have one too many you want to be with someone who will help a friend, etc.

Finally, I don't think I'm drinking with Jungle either.

P.S. Glad nobody got seriously hurt.

10-20 guys posting, hundreds reading, many more spreading the word. I think you underestimate the power of a grass roots movement by people who feel they have been wronged. All you have to do, is walk by F St., if you see someone you know, tell them you are going to XYZ and ask them to come along (then tell them why). On the flight in, set up a meeting place at somewhere other than F St. and then tell your crew why.

Just please do not turn Humpys into another F St. To many pilots in 80s leather jackets just waiting to be asked what do you do for a living! I could not stand the place. I have wondered why you did not carry a lite weight jacket that did not look so dumb for years. The new FDX style is what I packed the last 7 years lets you blend in any not get back checked! Plus its alot warmer.

Good advice, life is too short to waste on dive bars and dive girls. I am always very mild mannered until assault with intent heads my way.
It won't find me in a bar though.

I recommend as many as possible post a review at:

Anchorage Bar and Night Club Recommendations and Reviews on Citysearch

Not sure how widely known the site is, but it is at least something we can do that might reach non-pilots.
