Furlough Mitigation strategies
Edit--FDX thread.
Anyone read FE's message?
One part is the phrase "Furlough mitigation strategies" in reference to early retirement programs. Mitigation is an interesting word...
Definition of mitigation--
1. to lessen in force or intensity, as wrath, grief, harshness, or pain; moderate.
2. to make less severe: to mitigate a punishment.
3. to make (a person, one's state of mind, disposition, etc.) milder or more
gentle; mollify; appease.
4. to become milder; lessen in severity.
Sorry---In my haste I did not preface the thread with FDX.

So, to summarize F.E.'s update (and the updates prior to that)--
1. We met with the company
2. We discussed some things
3. We agreed to meet later to discuss some more things
4. After this next meeting of discussing things, we'll update you about what we discussed and tell you what we're gonna discuss they next time we discuss things with the company. Thank you.
At least he's making an effort to keep us updated.

You guys are jumping for joy about HKG SIBA. Perhaps rightfully so.
But it answers a riddle--How do you furlough the junior folks going to HKG?

ANC TDY for F/O's only on the MD11 out of the MEM base.....
That is a freaking brilliant point Gunter.

Considering that it takes 3-5 SIBA dudes to replace one permanent party guy they will have to hire guys in order to furlough out of Hong Kong. We like SIBA because it is less work for more pay. STV is more work for less pay. All Mem F/O should be jumping for joy.
Looking at Anchorage I'll bet a 7 day HSTBY line Mem to ANC would pay about >74 hours. Sounds like fun but how many lines would be required to replace one ANC R Line.

I was there, and yes, this a-hole actually said he couldn't afford his house payment if they cut the blg. But, the ALPA rep put him in his place and made him look like a complete A-HOLE.
What a tool....
