So 1800 RVR, are you saying that some of your junior captains have been displaced from other jets into the MD-11. Wish that would happen at FedEx, then maybe some of our guys would just pipe down.

I believe Freight Dog was displaced from his Capt seat in the lower 48 and is now ANC based. No ideal for most of us, especially for those who do not want to move.

Oh, that's not the impression I got from the earlier posts. There was talk of type rides, IOE, etc. Do you guys do those things when you stay in the same seat, but change domiciles?

It depends. Example: A 75/76 Intl Capt who transitions to the domestic domicile does not need additional training, but a 75/76 domestic Capt who transitions to the international domicile will need overwater training.

That is one of the benefits, that I see, with having the same payscale for all aircraft types. Fly what you want, and if displaced, what your seniority will hold.

FreightDog was a 75/76 captain who was displaced to MD11 captain, thus the type ride, IOE, etc.

1800 RVR has it right. I lost my 757/767 ONT captain position, and instead of going back to the right seat I took left seat MD11 ANC.

Never thought I'd get displaced out of a seat to an even larger plane, but that's the magic of our single payscale and ANC being so junior as a domicile.

You are going to need some 'magic' to keep ahead financially and the 'life style' -after spending all that money to stay warm.
