And you're smoking out of Tyrone Biggums personal stash if you think that the company doesn't have internal metrics that measure the risk of service failure for whatever reason against things like fuel reserves, reserve staffing, tighter deadheads, etc. Just because they don't share it with us doesn't mean it's not there. Sure someone has to answer when things go badly, but if they go badly within whatever parameters the company deems acceptable, no one's losing their head over it.

I was responding to this post:
Don't know if this has been brought up before, but someone mentioned diverts.
If you divert (because, say, we are landing south at The planet and ATC is behind the power curve) that does NOT count against the Fuel Sense numbers.
They do not take penalties when they tweak the fuel too tightly and we end up bailing out to maintain a margin of safety.
Just food for thought when looking at your next FP/R.

I wonder what the company's internal metrics said the risk would be of ramping up the optimizer, back in Mook's day?
And, I would still argue that even 1 airplane diverting due to low fuel, or any other reason, is going to cause someone to have to answer why?

No kidding? I had no idea. Wow. Thanks. That's a real eye opener.
So, you're thinking that if "we are landing south at the Planet" and 30 airplanes divert because of low fuel, due to fuel sense...No one is going to lose their head?

Isn't that one of the key interview questions? 'What screen name(s) do you post under in the Forums online?'
Obviously, if you are 'young' and have been striving for a flying job for a while, you have left an electronic 'trail' that is easily Googled . .and if you say; 'I don't do that.' They KNOW you are lying!
End of interview . . AND if you say you are a 'stupidpilot' . .sheet man . . end of discussion!
