The point is not flying it, it is showing the willingness to fly it. It is not just 10 guys either, unless no one bids it next month.
Its like calling a guy up who has a house for sale and saying, I'll take it, and then at closing asking how much do you want for it.
I guess if only 10 guys are flying DP's, it is ok too.
I'm not "after" anyone, just stating my opinion. You can blame the union all you want, but without pilots standing behind their actions they are powerless.

I'm with you, in theory. But the reality is...We(the pilots) are not a union when it comes to doing real union things.
But, it's our leaderships fault, of course. None of the blame could fall on the apathetic friggin' morons they work for.

bottom line is as of now....noone has bid it and noone is flying it...there is no bid out and we don't own any 777s....i was in sea the other day and the strike is delaying our aircraft deliveries....let see if the union can get something done without webb pulling our NC out of talks all the time...

The other thing is the quality of the guys you'd get.
If we all decided nobody needed to work in the training department unless we had the new rate, there would still be people happy to take training jobs. The Frank Burns types.
We want the good guys. So far (for the most part) we're getting them.

Ahhh, ignorance IS in fact bliss.... You want the higher pay rates for a bigger aircraft - that's the Union's job. You want an aircraft on property to fly at those higher pay rates - that's the instructors' job. Without an approved training program, those new pay rates wouldn't mean anything. It takes at least a year to stand up a program from scratch and it takes instructors to do that. But you're probably right, it would be better to wait for the new pay rates + 1 year rather than stand up a training program now... That'll teach 'em!
Your diatribe is nothing more than a lame excuse. At some point, this membership, all of it, needs to start thinking "group think".
This is pathetic.

What's wrong with the instructors wanting a payscale before they start "standing up" the program? They are on the seniority list aren't they? They are union members aren't they? They should have been the 1st to demand a payscale. We've known for some time about the 777. No reason to not have a payrate.

Chest puffing and shouting is great, but thinking things out works, too. The few individuals involved in standing that program up would be completely unable to operate revenue by themselves. The are stepping up to the plate and the rest of us will benefit by it in the long run. They should be congratulated rather than be held up as scapegoats.
