Excellent replies. Thank you, gentlemen. My sequence is very similiar to the one Adlerdriver is describing.
On an interesting (maybe) sidenote, they've got that $3800 accepted fare for discounted first on a carrier that doesn't sell discounted first. Global Travel booked in business (>16 hour duty) without making any effort to get in first class or inform me. I called them and pointed out the relevant section of the contract and was told "well, that costs almost $4000 more!" And your point is... Booked in full-fare first now. I've heard multiple people describe similar instances recently of booking class requirements in the CBA being ignored. They can take their pound of flesh somewhere else, thank you very much.

The company will no longer rebuild the entire pairing for all crewmembers if something happens to the backend deadhead. They now just split the pairing up and put everyone on their own seperate pairing and will not pay anyone who deviates the additional money. I know they used to pay everyone, but I have just had this happen and I am talking to the union about it.

For once things worked out to my favor. Got paid more for a trip I didn't have to fly and got home sooner!

That cancelled the $7000 ticket I had from DXB-JFK and the bank reverts to accepted of $3800 (figure that disparity out).
