Yep, you sure got me there ace. I didn't conduct a scientific survey of all Brown pilots on the subject of age 65 legislation. Maybe I should have said: "every Brown pilot under the age of 55 that I ever talked to was against letting the Favres return to a window seat." That good enough for you? If not, I don't really care.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the issue of "age 65" is divided along age lines. I'm very surprised to see that a self proclaimed "young, junior guy" such as yourself doesn't seem the least bit bothered by the whole thing. Let me guess...you're not getting bounced to ANC or the panel, are you? Rhetorical question B2, don't bother answering, because everyone here already knows the answer.

I think you are blaming the wrong group. Only 5 were bounced as a result of over-60 FE's, hardly a dent in the number that were bounced as a result of the 747-classic retirement. And the overwhelming majority of those who have upgraded (through vacancies, not by displacement) are in ANC...

I don't blame a group for anything. If I were 59+ I would be doing the same thing. And of course what you say about the actual numbers are true.
But I think it is more along the lines that after the age change, our seniority list now had something like 100 more eligible pilots than it had before (I don't know that exact number, don't care that much). Had the age remained the same, those vacancies would have been filled from the bottom of the list (new hires) instead of the top. And some new Captains would have been created from the senior FO ranks.
The effects are most pronounced at the bottom of the seniority lists in both front seats. As to be expected ...
As always, YMMV ...

Careful Shaggy...I sense another older frustrated relative newhire, likely another Colonel who deep down knows the seniority system really doesn't apply to him, and he should just become captain now. So be quiet, and don't you dare complain about ANYTHING lest you'll be on report. There are colonels without a command anymore.

My goodness...you sound like you have a dislike for some former military guys. If you're referring to me, Sideshow, I was just a lowly LtCol with no significant commands. The Air Force did this crazy thing and actually let me fly for 20 years straight with no desk jobs before I got lucky enough to get hired on by UPS. Flying is all I ever wanted to do. I surely don't have a beef with the seniority system...We've all done the Captain thing before and I'm more than content to wait my turn for the left seat again. It seems that some others aren't content to wait their turn in this seniority system though, and are willing to denigrate the older folks in their way. I can complain with the best of them, but I try not to cross the line into a mewling whiner. It's a fine line to walk.

If this were a road side check you fell off that line, cut yourself and bled all over the pavement. It's not the military thing sport, at least one of the guys you're dressing down is ex-military, and understands the seniority system just fine without you're adroit wisdom and plethora of airline experience.
