Funny how all threads containing the number "65" will turn into a flame war.

Keep up the good work folks, TV is a little slow this week.

My whole sarcastic point is that the large majority of the seniority list has seen very little effects of the Dec 13 rule change. You are most likely in that large group.

Then there are these fringe groups that have been ... downgraded from Capt to FO ... trained for 2 or 3 types to stay Capt in the last year ... moved bases from SDF to MIA to ONT to ANC to try to stay "local" ... hired into ANC then downgraded to FE in SDF ... and finally the group that went from the panel to a front seat for a handsome pay raise and a few more years of glory.

And NO ONE that I know is wishing anyone ill will. That small group that is moving forward is doing the same thing that nearly everyone here would do given the same opportunity.

But those in the abused fringes certainly don't have to be happy about the good fortune of others ...

You poor abused little boy...a job with a top airline, when thousands are getting let go in the industry...and now you have to commute, be displaced, train in a new aircraft, and find a new crashpad. How's that for sarcasm?

No ill will?...I guess the terms ND, near dead, herpes, and geezer are all terms of endearment...what was I thinking?!

"abused fringes"?!...GMAFB...drama queens more like. I'm sure we've all paid some dues in our aviation careers...welcome aboard.

You for the term "Favre". That's the on that I plan to use. Funny and up to the times with the season starting.

I think the junior folks spend way to much time wishing ill will on those people who have the good fortune to fly at a great company for another five years. It seems to me that you have more sympathy for the folks who picketed our company than for the folks who work for our company and our union, and who made it the successful business it is today. I think it's based on purely personal selfishness that goes something like this..."Hey this old guy is in my way...I wish he'd just retire or die so that I can get what I want." Pretty ugly sentiment if you ask me. The simple fact is, you'll get what you deserve in life based on your own merit, even in a seniority-based system like ours...not what one of your union brothers "takes away" from you. Appreciate what you have and stop whining about what others have that you don't...until you do, you'll never be happy. Someone will always have more luck, more toys and more money than you...that's life.

I was replying to freightpuppie's post not yours. You’re the one who’s backpedaling when you say my reply merely made you roll your eyes. It seems to me that you pick out sentences in my previous posts to reinforce your incorrect assumptions. I have stated before that I did not support them picketing UPS because it makes no sense; they should’ve picketed DHL not us. Neither did I support some other tactics they deployed such as the nasty youtube videos they’ve created likening their management to Adolf Hitler, etc. I’ve however said that I think this deal might hurt us in the future because I fear that DHL will one day fly our cargo in Europe but that’s a totally different discussion. I guess my fear of our flying being done by DHL in Europe makes me selfish. Oh well, so be it...

You seem defensive...and it's no wonder. You're lobbing grenades all over this board...don't be surprised when someone reacts. So be it indeed.

Touche ... ... but I'm actually a big abused boy !

As far as the "terms of endearment" ... sticks and stones, it comes with the territory. I've been called worse, so have they, and so have you.

And I'll admit, "abused fringes" was a poor term. I was merely trying to highlight that the effects of the age change are minimal to the majority of our seniority list (probably you included). But there are fringes of the list that see dramatic changes, some good, some bad.

But for those that it doesn't effect, the legislation change was merely a bump in the road ...

Welcome aboard ?

You must be kidding. I'm hardly new to this industry and its cycles.

Peace,

the brown CC

Yep, you sure got me there ace. I didn't conduct a scientific survey of all Brown pilots on the subject of age 65 legislation. Maybe I should have said: "every Brown pilot under the age of 55 that I ever talked to was against letting the Favres return to a window seat." That good enough for you? If not, I don't really care.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the issue of "age 65" is divided along age lines. I'm very surprised to see that a self proclaimed "young, junior guy" such as yourself doesn't seem the least bit bothered by the whole thing. Let me guess...you're not getting bounced to ANC or the panel, are you? Rhetorical question B2, don't bother answering, because everyone here already knows the answer.
