I should have said someone is smoking. This is a non starter in my opinion.

I don't believe that there are any negotiations going on, but what do you find the non starter, the figure or the concept of selling our A plan back. I'm also curious as to the age/longevity of anyone that comments on that but I understand too if you don't want to say.

The figure. I have heard that Corporate wants the Managers and the IPA's A-plan off the books. and have talked about this to the EB. And I heard 500K/750K figure.
25K is a non starter.

If one has a 30 year career, the a-plan will be worth 30% of your salary.
Lets use a figure of 300K salary. It will be much higher in 2020 or so. So your annunity is paying you 90K a year until death. If one just lives 10 years thats 900K in payments.
These numbers are totally vague, but this is were I say a 50K a year/service is about where to start. And this is what I heard.
25K is way too low.

I guess a good comparrison, based on your info, would be to go to a company like vanguard, and find out how much an annuity would cost at age 60 that would pay you 90k a year until you died.
You are right though that all companies in america will be trying to get these open ended obligations off of their books.

But I am worth at least $323,232 per year ... and you're worth MORE !!!
But no one asked me !

I was just in the school house and was told that they really don't know what is going to happen until the DHL deal is signed. Was also told that when it does get signed, we do not have the lift nor the crews to handle it. Take it for what it is worth.
yes they do. remember, they have a year or two to implement the deal. I see contractors and wet-lease operators soon on ramp 11-

Also from the schoolhouse ... the ENTIRE DHL deal would mean 13 more a/c needed. If that ... most of the load will ride on current routes that are under capacity.
And there are issues with bringing DC-8s out of storage. In other words, they were parked for a reason.
So look for more B767s ordered, early arrivals of the current order !
And of course, contract lift where you least expect it ...
This IS a RUMOR MILL thread ...

Ok I will ask the newb question. What is the A fund? Is it a fully funded retirement? Just wondering.

Could you guys please talk numbers on the B$G....It really looks bad doing it here. It's just like idiots who talk about their pay in front of van drivers.
