reserve line awarded not in bidpack

Great idea! If we can get someone to stick his member in an alligator's mouth, we ought to be able to get some volunteer to build VTO lines, then get the holy crap beat out of him by the guys who scrutinize every line. I'm saying this tongue in cheek but really, who would be willing to walk though that mine field as a volunteer? Would you? ...............Maybe we could file a grievance against ourselves?

Why have any human involvement at all?
Yeah maybe DT from CE is looking for a new job. I'll bet I could write an excell program that could do it better than the company. I know the Bid X guy could. Throw him $20K and tell him if he screws it up we will send him on a STV vacation.

have the same SIG guys that build the regular lines actually build the VTO lines out of the remaining open time.
then have all the VTO-holders RE-bid (in seniority order) for those newly constructed VTO lines - during the View/Add window - instead of putting in VTO "requests" like a preferential bid request.
this way, the VTO-holders would know EXACTLY what they were bidding on and there would be no surprises.
it's a totally different process than our contract has now (with pros and cons), but might be something worth looking into next contract go-around? or not.
(it certainly couldn't be a worse way of doing the VTOs than we have now.....could it?)

That idea is very similar to what SWA does(called blank lines), so all the secondary guys bid the VTO's which are already built...definately some pro's and cons...biggest pro is not knowing until 3 days before the month starts.
Oh well, I guess it is all a part of being junior.
