Default question for fedex guys/girls

I was going into Fort Wayne last night and FedEx was doing practice approaches into there in a 75. Is that normal for you guys?? Seems it would be a little bit cheaper to hit the sim. I know it could have been a maint flight but the tower acted like it was a normal thing but jeez at the price of jet fuel and them flying around for 40 mins at 3000ft.

The 757's are new on property. I'd bet they were doing aircraft certification versus pilot training. Unless the Feds are requiring bounces for some reason...

Like us with our new 747s...sims are good to a point, but sometimes you just have to fly the thing.

It was a new captain and a line check airman. I guess the sim program is not fully up to speed yet.

He gramps, this cuts both ways.

Up here in ANC, there is a pilot from Lyden praising Senator Ted Stevens for the support of age 60-65 and then the pilot said how great it is to hang on to these experienced pilots and their talents not wasted. Although I haven't seen coverages of accidents, I think if the torch was passed (like it was for the last 40 plus years) we wouldn't be seeing any coverage either.
