"Does anyone else think it's a bit ironic that "we" fought for retroactivity...And 9 months later, we're trying to negotiate an early retirement incentive program for them? "
Not as ironic as what we must have given up at the table last time to make sure our retirees and soon to be retirees were taken care of. Now most of the soon to be's won't use them under this contract unless the new contract adds a penalty for retiring before 65. Then they will all bail just before it takes effect. The good news is that should be the last time they can pull the ladder up on everyone below them and there will be much rejoicing from the masses!!
Yep, runway behind you, altitude above you, and negotiated retirement issues during our last contract...how's that saying go?

Your "Good News" will be old news. Another group will grow up to be the "Senior" folks and do it all over again.

Good point, it is ironic! Retroactivity allows you to come back and bid 11C and now that you can't get thru the training, we'll just pay you to retire. The cost of 200%+ training with an instructor and a support pilot (all on WB Capt pay) for multiple trainees is too much.

The cost is with all the extra events; the instructor and support pilots (who have long completed IOE or on P/O pay). Lots of extra training events going on and anticipated with retro and 10C to 11C folks ... heard around simulator land.

Mark, you ignorant slut! I know you can't or don't remember that far back, but I've always said that once a guy reaches 25 years with the company, than it's time for him to retire. So please don't say that I'm all in favor of guys staying on the property forever, because it's just not so, buckwheat. As well, with the exception of your "Na, na," etc comment, you're paraphrase of my comment is correct. The only one who can tell me what to do is my wife, and that's only because she owns the vagina in the family.
Ouch!
