Default ALPA marching Astar pilots off a cliff

I think ALPA is doing its membership a HUGE disservice by advocating the picketing and trashing the UPS image.

If UPS pilots were ALPA, this wouldn't be happening, but the fact is that ALPA has nothing to lose and they would rather you guys NOT get hired at UPS.

Keep this in mind when they ask you to rally and picket again!

I predict they will be in Louisville next- either in front of Worldport or the IPA building.

What is WITH this guy? Astar pilots are not picketing UPS pilots; We are picketing UPS. The very same UPS HQ that YOU picketed (assuming that you were on board with IPA and your fellow pilots).

Furthermore, the intent of the picket was not to trash the UPS image, it was to draw media attention to the possible anti trust issues associated with the pending UPS/DHL deal. We are struggling to protect our jobs - NOT take away yours. If the deal fails, you DO NOT lose any jobs: If the deal goes, we DO lose jobs - ALL of them.

And, by the way, while you pontificate from your comfortable position on the top of the airline industry pyramid, don't forget that the job benefits you may inherit from our demise will be well insulated from those of us who made "the bad decision" to work for airlines that are soon to fail: UPS has made clear that they will not hire any DHL pilots at all. You've nothing to worry about, Ned.

Well, UPS puts food on my daughter's table, so you are not 'just' picketing UPS. I also have a problem with you guys carrying around signs that say I work for an un-American company. Excuse me! What I really find amusing is how ALPA is slicing your throats because they are making sure that you won't work for a non-ALPA carrier. You guys don't even see it. Or maybe you just don't want to.

Also, many more jobs will be lost if this deal doesn't go through because DHL will likely close up shop in the USA. That's a lot more DHL employees out of work than just pilots. But this is just all about you though. We know!

How long do you expect DHL to lose billions in the USA. You saw this coming a long time ago, and you should have done something about it then, rather than picket the company that puts food on my daughter's table.

How is it anti-trust when DHL itself still exists and the customers come to DHL to send their stuff?

We're just a third party sub-contractor..just like you guys are.

What makes this deal illegal? Nobody is merging with anybody here.

You guys crack me up. A bunch of pilots trying to play lawyer on a forum. What makes you guys experts on saying if something has antitrust issues or does not have antitrust issues. What is illegal and what is not illegal.

The biggest question is I understand why the DHL pilots are fighting the deal, but why are the UPS pilots even opening their mouths? This seems like a corporate decision that is meeting the front line workers affected. Why speak against fellow pilots and look like a jerk? Thank god FDX did not get mixed up in this mess as the rumors had it for so long.

Actually Ned, it isn't "just about us". It's about over 10,000 people who are going to be out of a job. With no other jobs around. If you don't get that, then there is no explaining it to you. Here's a link to a UPS guy who "gets it". Today's local paper in Wilmington, OH. Click the electronic edition on the left side for the full story.

Wow, that guy gets the "Idiot of the Year" award, in my book. I wonder what his wife thinks about him quitting his job?

I'm sorry jobs will be lost, but why are you blaming UPS for your problems? Go picket Google in California since they have as much to do with it as UPS - nothing!

Also, maybe it was my time spent in the desert, but it really chaps my ass when someone calls me (or UPS, my company) un-American. Did you not expect that to **** any of us off?

If the UPS / DHL deal falls through, DHL will close up shop anyway.

UPS is actually saving DHL jobs across the country.

Do you not see that?

Pretty lame to hold up your "time spent in the desert" Ned. Many of us here have served our country. Including me. I just choose not to tout it. Try again.
