Pairings only get changed when their is a reason to change them.

If it was up to the company we would all be on reserve anyway...
The next contract should have more sick time in it.

Ask anyone in the ANC SIG about what happened. You are correct that the VP has the final say, but if our own MEC does not support it before it hits his desk how much chance does it have. Like I said the whole process is BS.

Don't shoot the messenger. I am just telling you how they rationalize the whole thing by assigning them to reserves. If they where "unsafe" they could not be flown by anyone.

Not trying to be a jerk here, just trying to understand your point. How is the MEC supposed to show support for a DP? Isn't this the job of the SIG and not the MEC? What is the MEC supposed to do -- walk in together and pound their collective fists on PC's desk? Again, not trying to be sarcastic here, I just would like to know what it is that you think the MEC should have done.

1) There's no requirement that a DP be flown only by reserves prior to the final resolution process and no 3 month time limit once a prg is accepted as disputed. 2) The ANC-NRT-NGO sequence should put to rest the old wive's tale that if only the crew force will hold the line and not fly a DP (as ANC did), then the company is required to change the sequence. Contractually, it doesn't matter.

It's not a wive's tale that when the company has to jump thru hoops to crew a DP it costs $$. Putting DH's on, paying draft or wasting reserves on it costs $$.
I don't believe it's in the contract but the company sits up and pays attention when extra $$ is being spent.
