"1. Mistake-"

IMO, mistakes can be rectified by drops. If you tried that and were unable then that is more understandable.
As far as anonymous stuff goes, I agree it is weak but not as weak as our union leadership refusing to back the SIG by publishing a list of DP flyers. Instead they expect us to risk our jobs by individually contacting others and taking a chance at being accused of harassment. I guess they will be there for the hearing though so we got that going for us, which is nice! Gunga ga lunga is all we get. Seriously, I am a big SIG supporter but without our leadership finding some way to support them by exposing DP flyers it is a losing battle IMO. I know for a fact many SIG members are very frustrated with this and some have quit. Anyway, if that is the only voluntary DP you flew (and you tried to drop it) than I got no problem. Welcome to the forum..

Not to excuse Olly, but I believe it was a c/o trip, so once he had it, no way to drop it!

It's a tough crowd when DPs are concerned. They paint with a broad brush and usually don't collect all the facts before they fire. Everyone knows it.

But most of who they target deserve the abuse. They are hardened, weasel like, repeat offenders. They come up with weak excuses and are often caught in lies. When caught in a lie they change their tune and say they don't give a sh*&, leave me alone.

So there is background on why they get mean. No one likes getting lied to. You and I will just have to put up with the abuse if we get stuck with a DP and beg forgiveness. You can plead your case and stick by our innocence story (if it's true) and you will eventually be forgiven, but it will be your expression of intent to avoid that will win them over. Many, many senior guys fall into the forgiven category after have done them on purpose. But it doesn't happen in a nanosecond. You'll have to be patient. Try to avoid focusing on the fairness of the situation.

None of us want you to get bitter.

Give the guy a break. He screwed up and knows it. No sense in beating the dead horse anymore. I don't know too many of us out there who have never made a mistake while bidding.

Agreed. When is this guy forgiven? 10 years from now, are people whispering "psst, see that guy, he flew a DP back in ought seven!" ? He made a mistake, knows it, hasn't made the same mistake since..........so, when does he transition back to good guy from DP pariah? I'm OK with him now.

Priceless conversation of the day:

Me--while reading the APC fora: "Man, these guys need to get a life!"

Wife of 25 years--"But you're reading it too, honey!"

Now back to your previously scheduled programming--

I hit into a DP last weekend in my church softball league. Man oh man that preacher got pi$$ed! So I called him out in front of the deacons and they told me that's how our religion rolls.

I heard you can't be a porn star unless you do DPs.

Doing a DP is tantamount to starring at the other guy during a Devil's Three-way!!!! You just don't do it, it goes against the Bro Code.

Article 47 of the Bro Code:
No eye contact shall be made during a Devil's Three-way.
