True words Lag.

No, I do not think that was JJ's point.

Pretty funny posts if that is really Olly flying the DP.

Wow! 3, 4, or even 5 years?!?!? It's a good thing the retirement age didn't get upped to 65... you might have had 8, 9, or even 10 years, sitting sideways in the 727, suffering through a crappy reserve system. So pleeease, no lectures.

I'm a nugget in anc and have been going backwards for over two years. Furthermore, the company, and alpa reps parroting them, that it's cheaper to have a straight seniority airline is patently false. Break out a .xls and plug in a 10 yr md-11 cap pay vs a 15 yr 727 cap, a 2 year md-11 f/o vs a 6 year 727 f/o. Based on Straight pay alone, it's cheaper to man junior pilots. When you factor in vacation it makes it more evident. The best a straight seniority system does is break even, but then loses when you add vacation.
Nobody is faulting the "ANC guys that were hired into the right seat of the MD-11" (That is the politically correct term for them). I love these guys and think they all do a great job. I along with others I know literally spent thousands of dollars on beer for them while they were on probation. You just roll the dice when you put yourself in that position. However, it is a great way for a new guy to make a lot of money, along with him choosing to fly disputed pairings when nobody else is...

He/she's got the same ID as the rest of us, so they've got the same right as the rest of us to squawk about whatever they choose. Just because some of us have had a harder/different lot is irrelevant.

You're quoting a CP? Do you think that gives more or less weight to your statements?

The reality is crappy junior lines and an infamous VTO scheduler for ANC "Screwed up the seniority system" and made ANC go so junior the company had to hire off the street to fill it. Perhaps a lack of a COLA as well. On the contrary, the seniority system was operating just as it should. Don't be fooled by any CP Jedi mind tricks.

Sure the nuggets are "lucky". But they wouldn't have been hired if they weren't needed. I think we are at a draw here.

BTW, there are no excuses for doing DPs. NONE. We already have lots pairings that should be DPs but aren't because we keep flying them. I'd rather not have any more.

Daniel,

You're absolutely correct! That goes for pretty much everything that happens around here, including the age change and all the grief that goes along with it. Just because some don't benefit as much as others is, in fact, irrelevant.

I think the "Purple Nuggets" are "greedy". And, those in less paying positions that complain about them are "stupid".
