nuggets
This is true. We will have another junior manned aircraft. I hope ALPA is raising hell about this. A-380 pay for the 777 should be a given, it was already negotiated and should not even be a question. Just like the purple nugget program screwed up the senority system, so will not paying the 777 a premium.
I'm a nugget in anc and have been going backwards for over two years. Furthermore, the company, and alpa reps parroting them, that it's cheaper to have a straight seniority airline is patently false. Break out a .xls and plug in a 10 yr md-11 cap pay vs a 15 yr 727 cap, a 2 year md-11 f/o vs a 6 year 727 f/o. Based on Straight pay alone, it's cheaper to man junior pilots. When you factor in vacation it makes it more evident. The best a straight seniority system does is break even, but then loses when you add vacation.

Chill the f out. That is what the SCP called it not me. And yes it screwed up the senority system as we saw with the last proposed excess bid. Nobody is insulting you so go have another beer. I don't think you got it with a bid, you were offered a job if you would take it. I hope we don't have another excess bid which will realign a lot of people including myself.
Now the window seats were more overmanned than the soft economy gas... Thus the need for the 08-03 excess.
The comapny speaks one way- reduce training costs, minimize manpower costs... But then by posting 08-02 727 FE excess it dramatically increases training cycles, overpopulates teh widebody seates and takes a 727 FE salary to a widebody cap/fo salary.
Use a little analytical thought & look at the data, regardless what the scp says, the fact speak for themselves, and the nugget thing had absolutely nothing to do with it.

They flew disputed pairings, Olly.

ANC22:Flying 3/4 of the way around the world to SFS before the only reset is much too late to be effective.

How did the nuggets screw up the seniority system? There is a mix of junior/senior pilots in all widebody seats. If a pilot wanted md-11/anc he could have bid it, and received passover until he was trained behind the nuggets. Once there he would be senior.

Welcome to both this board and to FedEx, it's good to have you here. Now for the reality check. While we're all glad you're here, you need to realize that when someone who is junior bids (and is awarded) a higher paying seat, he gives up: QOL; control over his schedule; control over his vacation days; control over training days; and he usually then spends 2 or more years moving "backwards", relative to the seniority in his base, a/c and seat. The rest of us all understand that, and now hopefully, you do too. As well, try to remember that just because you got a really, really, really good deal, to come to the worlds premier freight airline, as a widebody pilot, on international per diem, a lot of us spent 3, 4, or even 5 years, sitting sideways in the 727, suffering through a crappy reserve system. So pleeease, no lectures.

So Olly should only speak when he is spoken to?
The nuggets didn't screw up the seniority system. ALPA and the pilots screwed it up when they accepted a sub standard LOA for pilots to move to a high cost of living area. Sound familiar.
