And quite honestly. I think we have too much room in the 757s and DC8s. Another can could easily fill up that room that the lav and back rest curently occupy !

UPS will buy 777F's, no doubt about it. Why? Simply because FDX is getting them. Also because 767Pilot said that he heard "right from the top" that we will never get 777F's. Just like "UPS will never go public," "you will never get first class tickets for a DH," and "DHL is not considering UPS for the contract."

It was explained to me by a sales dude that having the 777 and operating asia-direct SDF would shave 5 hours off in transit time. Its a very valuable marketing tool that would still make money with a 777 even if the volume is light. By telling a potential large customer that you can fly their stuff non-stop to SDF from Asia helps to get a contract inked, even if the customer does not intend to use that service, they know that its availible to them if they need it.

If FDX does it, UPS will be forced to do it and they aint gonna use the gas hog -400 to fly Asia - SDF. He also said it was the same with the A380 thing, the only reason UPS placed an order was because FDX placed one as well. Despite what many of us think, UPS is actually very aware of the competition and nevermind the BS propaganda they tell you in indoc. The competition is FedEx, and upper managment knows this. UPS is not quite as clueless as we think. You dont last 100 years as a company by being totally screwed up and out of touch.

Sure though, UPS is dicked up in many levels, as is FDX and every other large corporation, but they do know how to make enough money to more than compensate for the screw ups.

So, my prediction, 777's are already or almost a done deal, its just not announced yet. I would expect an announcement sometime next year for sure.

Anyone wanna take bets?

Sooo, since Fedex is getting 757s will UPS get rid of them now? Also, will FDX now buy 747-400s? I mean they "followed us" on the 75s, right?

The Turtle can do everything that the 400 does, it just takes a bit less volume. The 777 is the economical long haul airplane and it will be used primarily as a marketing tool. I wouldnt expect very many of them on the property, maybe 10 max.

And, they better not get rid of the 757's or I would have to go to training again, and I'd rather staple baloney to my face than go to training..

But then again, what the hell do I know? I fly airplanes for a living, so that in itself tell you that I aint very smart.

I agree 100%! However, what bothers me the most is how quite the 757 is in the cockpit! Especially with both packs on...

I always thought the saying was - "if it ain't Boeing I ain't going" but now I'm thinking it should be "if it ain't roaring I ain't goin'..."

Maybe we need a new chapter in the QRH – “Crew members can’t hear *@#$%^$#@!” - Crew Advisory only”

The new Boeing slogan - "Huh? Did you say somethin'???"

You just havent been flying the 757 long enough. After about ten years you will think its a really quiet cockpit. :-)

Ha! No. Iglootopia did not have adequete supplies of TP for my peoples bungholes and it would have been very hard to take the TP all the way to Lake Titicaca

Unfortuantely I survived the carnage, and it aint pretty. I wish I could take an ANC slot. I'm going to be flying way too much for my own good, or anyone elses for that matter.......

That's what I'm afraid of. Here's my next purchase - I'll just paint the helmet OSHA yellow and will be good to go!!!
