Default Fedex Jumpseat-MEM

Hello Fedex pilots, I have been planning on doing some jumpseating on you out of MEM. I just moved here to MEM, and I am ashamed to say, I have no idea where where I'm suppose to be to get on the flight (Building wise) or where I'm suppose to meet you for the flight. Does the employee shuttle service at the airport take you where your suppose to be? I've asked several people but no one can give me a straight answer. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks!

Go to the Fedex Employee parking lot on Democrat. Tell the gate guard that you are jumpseating, they will give you the code to open the gate. Get on the crew bus to ops. When you arrive at ops they will take care of you.

Give them a one time call to get into the "FedEx" system and you should be good to go.

Trying to build the mental picture for ya here. As you get off the crew bus, you will see a chain link fence/building to the left. Go through those doors and it's std apt security with the j/s security nazi's straight ahead. they will verify that you are listed, give you yellow tags to verify that your bag was screened, after making it through the security annex, hang a left turn and you will see the actual check-in counter. And they want to "see" the bags to make sure they are tagged.

If it's a late breaking reservation for ya, the security nazi's won't let you pass until you get a printout from the check-in girls.

Good luck, and hope we can help you out. Barring the beginning/end of the week commute in, usually have seats open.

I would plan on showing at the parking lot 30-45 minutes early the first time just to be on the safe side. Sometime the buses are few and far between., and they are pretty strict on the show times in memphis.

Thanks for the info, a friend of mine told me I need to be there 2 hours before departure. Any truth to that?

Far as I know, the show time for you is the same as the show time for me....which means have to be through security and checked in at least 1 hr prior.

When I'm doing a day j/s, I tend to shoot to be in the AOC 1+15, which means I am to show up at the parking lot in the 1+30-1+45 range

(The show time they will give you already includes the 1 hr prior....so, 30-45 prior to show time should give you enough wiggle room)

The j/s folks in Memphis tend to be pretty anal about showtimes. Less so out in the field, if you're running late---as long as you aren't going to delay the flight, not that big of a problem.

Be sure you called at least 24 hours ahead if this is your first time j/s with FedEx, so they can put your profile in the system.

If you need to cancel, cancel at least 6 hours prior, or they may take away your ability to j/s for a time (they do it to us!) First offense is 30 day suspension, then 90 days, then 6 months.

I think for international jumpseats there is a 2 hour checkin.
