Take a look here to get a feel for it:
Apple - MobileMe - Tutorials
It's had some bugs getting off the ground, but I think it's going to be pretty good.

Thanks for the detailed reply but I got a few more questions.
"I decided to sync MobileMe with all my contacts on my PC and then I edited the contacts on MobileMe to the ones I actually wanted on my iPhone. I have a lot of contacts in Outlook that I rarely, if ever, will call. So after I edited my contacts in MobileMe they synced to my iPhone and now all is good."
- So basically you can create several folders in MobileMe and chose the one you want on your iPhone? For example "iPhone folder", "All Contacts" folder", etc.?
- Is MobilMe an application that only exists on your iPhone or do you have one on the PC too? I figured it'd be quicker to revise the list on the PC and then sync it to the iPhone.
- Also, will I still need to use the Outlook or can it be done solely on MobilMe?
"I do like the "Push" feature in MobileMe. If you get an email sent to your [email protected] address it will ding and show up on your iPhone. Plus if you add a contact to either MobileMe or on your iPhone it shows up on both ends. You don't have to enter it everywhere."
- So do I have to get the …@me.com email address or can I use my regular email address? I guess I'm still confused on the pros of the MobileMe.
One thing I DID like on my Treo was the Palm Address Book where I could go in, click on the address/name I wanted to change then put my phone in the cradle, press the sync button and the change would show on my Treo. Not sure how to do that on the iPhone.
I must say I love the iPhone - it seems to be very user friendly and intuitive. The iTunes - much less so.

2. When you install the latest version of itunes on your PC or MAC you end up with an icon in "Control Panel" called "MobileMe". I have an iMac also but not with me but I believe MobileMe is located in "System Preferences" but not positive. You use that icon to set up your sync with MobileMe. It can be automatic at user selected intervals or manual. I chose manual.
3. When you have a MobileMe account you can go to MobileMe and log in to your account. There you have full access to your contacts, calandar events, etc. I prefer to edit from there if I have a lot of changes because I can use a full sized keyboard. You can also add a contact to your iPhone and it will push up to your MobileMe account automatically.
4. If you are not an Outlook user you can do everything via MobileMe.
5. You will get a [email protected] if you sign up for MobileMe. You can use the MobileMe email address exclusively and you can also forward to your MobileMe address from some other email services if they provide forwarding. Once forwarded to your MobileMe email address they will push to your iPhone.
I hope this is clear as mud!

Thanks a lot - it does make much more sense now. One more question - as far as my email address - if I forward my regular email to the [email protected] email address and then reply from my iPhone - which address will show as my email address? The me.com or my regular address?
Good question. I'm in Japan right now so can't test it to tell you. I would guess that it would be the me.com address since that would be the forwarded email address at the top of the email header.
You can also get other email (yahoo, gmail, AOL, etc.) on your iPhone directly from the provider. These work a little differently. You can retrieve manually or you can set it up to fetch your mail. I do my email from AOL manually so I don't have the phone always looking for mail. I'm eventually going to wean myself off reading AOL email by on the iPhone because I get way too many emails on that address and many have large attachments. I will probably tell a select group of people about my me.com address so when I do get email pushed to my iPhone it is actually from somebody I want to hear from.

I can go to me.com and sign into my account and edit contacts, photos, calendar events, account info, etc. using a large screen and keyboard instead of typing on my little iPhone keypad. I do this when I have several edits or tasks to accomplish. Doing a few on the iPhone is no problem.
