From what I have heard in PTC we will be bidding on the GAC MD-11's as well as trying to lure their contracts to WO. I think that auction is on the 11 August

The union has told the membership that they are looking at a LOA to cover the GAC pilots being hired to crew them while we train captains for them. It would have to be voted on by the union membership.

It sounds like more than a rumor and far from a done deal.

Other than that, we are still giving preferrence to the former ATA pilots. Will GAC be added to the list? Nothing has been said yet.

I spell worse than my 10 year old son, but I can hold my own flying a MD-11. At least my mother is still proud of me.

M-Mark contributes to this forum quite often as reflected by his 967 posts - or do you mean this thread as that is the proper term for a grouping of posts on a particular topic inside a forum?
When you say contribute, what do you mean? I contribute something every morning, just not on this forum. We see MayDayMarks, here, every morning on APC.

PS: why is someone from UPS or FredEX even lurking in these columns? Their business model precludes them from furloughs and other financial hardships. Or does it.....?
I know, it is so we can learn something about the industry...........cough............ok, did you learn something? Next up.....disputed pairings at YouKnowWho....does this give you insight.......?

So...the question is.............if you don't lurk on other sites....how do you know about disputed pairings? BTW, lurk away, post when and where you want, nobody realy GAS, it's pretty much OK with everybody, right?

WG,
Cause as is typical in the biz, we have buds at Gemini, World, Astar, ABX, Polar, Atlas, Southern, ATI...... from our previous lives, etc. Also, many of my fellow UPS drivers came from these companies. Personally, most of us only wish our compadres well and thus an interest. Oh, and were nosy <g>

Maybe I missed something here but why not use the captains that GAC already has ?would cut down on training costs would it not ?

You haven't missed anything. As an interim solution what you are suggesting is plausible. But our labor union would never agree to allow Captains from another Company that went BK, to permanently fly left seat just because we may acquire the birds he/she use to fly at ABC Airlines. I don't believe any labor union would allow that.

I sent a friend's resume along with my rec. directly to the CP (RR) on Wed. and he got a call within a half of an hour for an interview on mon/tues. He is current a FO on the 11 at GAC.
