You know we aren't that picky--we hire Marines for heaven's sake....

But seriously...job one is be in UPT this Friday. Next Monday your job is to be there NEXT Friday. Get the picture?

You might even find out you like it better than chasing airline dreams. All I ever wanted was to do 7 years and go to Delta. I did 14, then retired a LTC in the ANG, and loved every moment of it. The airline life is good, but the industry is a mess right now. You may find out you have the very best job in aviation. Don't burn any bridges, and smell some roses along the way. And kill a terrorist or two while you are at it....
No doubt. Couldn't agree more.

I'm honestly having way too much fun right now to even care about a job in the civilian world. I have no doubt that I have the BEST job in aviation(too bad they wont let you keep that job past 10 years anymore). I really wouldn't trade it for anything. UPT has been tough, but at the same time it has been one of the most fun and rewarding times I have ever had and I'm still in the T6! I just can't wait to get out in the real Air Force and hopefull kill some f'ing terrorists. Hopefully not from a trailer in New Mexico though!

Now I just have to decide what I would like to fly which is proving to be one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. Track select is coming up pretty soon and I'm pretty sure I have the grades for 38's, but I'm not so sure it's the best idea to go 38's anymore. Don't get me wrong I love pulling g's in the T6 and the aggresive flying that we get to do, but the 38 side is looking pretty scary. Between U-28's out of Hurlburt(which isn't that bad), NSA's out of Cannon(would absolutely suck, but at least you're still flying), and UAV's starting to drop within the next 3 classes(go ahead and shoot me) getting a fighter out of 38's isn't looking too great. The next best thing seems to be passing gas to the lucky few that are still left in fighters and getting to see them drop off the boom with bombs on the wings and then return to the boom with empty wings.

Yeah down the road I may wonder what if I had gone 38's, but I still think I would be happy flying anything that actually required me to be in the cockpit.

I'd say don't waste your time with -38s. Not now anyway. Out of the last drop of 7 -38 guys, only 1 got a fighter! There wasn't even a bomber slot in there. They all went PC-12/U-28. Get in the good life, per diem, and marketable multi engine by seeing the world.
But hey, it's just the opinion of a current T-6 IP looking to the future as well. Good luck!

UPT must be a whole lot easier these days. When I went through, I wouldn't have had enough time to be on the computer writing on APC. Oh wait, when I went through we didn't have personal computers.
