What a night in Mempho
Here I am, stuck on the plane w/ BoyCapt, watching the blue light special. What a way to start the hub turn.
Oh well, at least it's giving him time to pull the photos out. Nice to put a face to some of the guys on here,
But I have to ask, what's with the huge combover R1200RT?
Man, the Donald's hair looks more realistic.

Sounds painful. When did they start doing root canals at hub turns? You can always assuage your discomfort by logging on here and giving us a blow by blow account.
[Ok, ok, I am going back to the Hangar to my personal blogging, before they shut me down altogether.]

Oh, BTW, what airline is this for?

In no apparent order-
R1200, it was indeed the BoyCaptain making a rare night time appearance. I can't prove it, but, I think he hangs around the local FedEx watering holes proclaiming that you can't pay him enough to fly nights until someone takes him up on the challenge by offering a 10, 20, 50, 100$ until he agrees. I think it would be more accurate for the BoyCaptain to say that he rarely flys nights and pretty much never hub turns.
Vagabond, it was a dark and stormy night. no, the night was humid. no the night was damp. Well, it was a fast moving narrow band of T-storms that weren't supposed to hit Mempho until about the outbound wave. Woops, guess we shouldn't have made those cutbacks in the wx control shop. Could have been a lot worse, though. We landed with no real issues, cleared the rwy, and saw the lightning lights flashing about a mile to the north....so, the storm was within 5 miles of the ramp. The only frustrating thing was listening to the guys asking our control how long the ramp was going to be closed as the lightning was flashing overhead.....followed shortly thereafter by the wind gusts rocking the plane and the torrential downpour. The lightning let up for a brief period and the ramp opened up to allow folks to park, but it was raining so hard that even if you could have gotten the acft stairs to the plane you wouldn't have wanted to get off.
The funny thing is guys who should know better are asking for folks to park them even though the ramp is closed, and it's closed because of a Fed rule, not a FedEx guideline. I shudder to think of the OSHA fines we would have gotten had ops normal continued.
BoyCaptain, RENO kind of reminds me of a minor food poisoning incident I had a few years back. Not the worse I've ever experienced, but, would greatly prefer to avoid it in the future. I'm hangin w/ some of the Bro's for the wknd having abandoned my Capt, so, not really getting the whole RENO experience. Which, IMHO, seems to be a good thing.

He also said he was taking the rest of the summer off. His July schedule has a lot of blue on it.
I often wonder what color the sky is in his world. He is getting older this week and I think his mind is starting to slip. I hope he enjoyed his trip to RDU exotic place that it is. I'm off for a walk on the Rhein and then to Paris for two days. How can he stand to fly the stuff he does is beyond me.
He is missing out on a great flying job at FedEx.
Good luck BoyWonder.

Big"Boy"Captain is about 40% nights now and he's headed south like the rest of us so that percentage will go WAY up. He just talks a senior game.
He also said he was taking the rest of the summer off. His July schedule has a lot of blue on it.
