I agree. Eliminating passover pay in the engineer seat and filling the FDA are the ultimate motives of these excesses. I, for one, am not going to freak out until after the multiple excesses and the 777 bid. By that time the seniority lists on the Bus and Maddog will look a lot like they do now.
As we all know, there are probably 20 wonderboys in a room in MEM figuring out how to make this all work while minimizing total cost. Half of them are cost analysts and half are lawyers to interpret the contract. I really don't see how relocating so many pilots, and thusly paying the relocation costs (move packages) is going to save FedEx money in the long run.
JMHO.

The fda bid/canceled FDA bid, vacancy bid/excess bid just doesn't make any sense unless some managers' arse is on the line to get the HKG domicile filled (it appears he managed to talk them into canceling the CDG domicile when no one bid it?).
That manager (PC maybe?) must be angry now and determined to make "us" pay for making him look incompetent ... and that boys and girls is why we are getting jerked around like noob pilots at a second or third tier bankrupt airline. (Oh, and maybe to get the ND's their "rightful" positions back?)
The good news (if there is any) is that "they" are still saying no furloughs ...
