Furloughs. Seriously though, sometimes we get to enjoy the opposite scenario.

I wonder when the Cat 5 tornado is scheduled to hit the hub. I'm sure it'll be around midnight any day now.

Guess you should have stayed senior in the F/O seat. Shame on you for listening to JL.

Right on JJ. Nothing beats standing on the sidelines for all this crap.

jag, clearly the best thing to do is to bid for the FO slot now. afterall, you might be stuck bidding vacation as a junior capt on this first vacation bid.....when the next excess bid puts you into that FO seat.

This excess bid closes Jun 25th, well before the Jul 20th vacation bid closes.

Just think how much your QOL will improve by being able to bid as senior FO versus just taking what the system is giving you.

Capt to FO, seem so strange that I have some buds at AMR who have been bouncing back and forth for the last 5 years now when they didn't even have any NDs to screw them over. Well, at least not until recently. Of course, a bunch of their NDs went out early due to the way their retirement plans are setup.

I thought vacation bids went according to the seat you are currently active in?

And how about all that sick time you accrued as a Captain, but if FedExcessed, you'll get to use it as F/O pay. Life sucks! Of course you'd not consider all the accrued sick time and banked time you earned as an F/O and then took with you when you made Captain. If guys get furloughed I wonder how they'll take their vacation. Seriously, I'm not trying to make light of the situation, but come on, there are lots of really sh!tty things happening, to lots of really great guys. Your vacation issue is rather small potatoes, because if for no other reason, when you upgraded to Captain, you knew you'd be junior and was awarded your vacation, based on your seniority at the time.

The problem I have with all this is the guys out there saying they wish they had a crystal ball. If they could have seen all this coming (age 60, downturn in the economy) they would have upgraded sooner. Now they are going to get their chance at the expense of those that were willing to be junior in their seat and fly the crappy lines/trips and be last when it came to vacation slots.
