On the other hand, of course I don't want to have to come in for a sim if I'm sitting reserve.

My last event was a WU/PC with a full crew. First time that's happened in a long time. The FO (like me) does mostly Reserve. He was superb! The SO {a lineholder) needed coaching on how to manage fuel. This isn't >60 flamebait, There're many that do the job above and beyond, with no impetus from myself or others.

I've had MANY "flex" support guys in the sim over the years. I've had very good experiences with them and appreciated their really good support. They've seen the scenario before, they know what's coming next and they know the wrong answers and will try to persuade you into a better answer. I'll take a flex instructor anytime.
