Roberto,
If you previously published the answer to this I apologize in advance. If the subsequent displacement bid moves probation guys onto the panel, then where will the displacement 400 F/O's originate from?
I would think you could only squeeze so much out of the system / probation guys before you run out of them (they are either on the panel or in an ANC F/O position already.

After all the bloodletting from the Displacement bid, it seems to me that ultimately the 30 ANC FO seats will be filled and 27 FO's will go to DC8 SO's. Does that sound correct?
In the System Bid 08-103 thread I posted a couple lists that show where all the junior people are, which should help some. If the Vacancy Realignment Bid comes out June 16, it will close June 30. The Displacement Bid will then open and close 2 weeks later, July 14. That will be the award of interest. I don't think the results of the Vacancy bid will count for much, as the Displacement bid will preempt most, if not all, of those awards....

The Feds still have the three DC-8s grounded due to paperwork issues. Rumor is that there are another 18 DC-8s with incomplete logbooks (Hurstborne put all the logbooks on microfiche and destroyed the paper logbooks and now they can't find ALL the micofiche) that the FAA might be investigating. Plus, most the ROW stored DC-8s have been picked for parts and may not be able to be returned to flight status.

Roberto,
Are any of the Classic displacements, Flight engineers, that in your opinion might go to the DC8 F/E position.
The reason I ask, some of the displace-ers are having a hard time in transition/upgrade training due to glass FMS issues.
Just asking...

There are 18 Classic FE's on the System Bid 08-102 Reference Seniority List. Five of those can upgrade; the remaining 13 will go to the DC8 FE or retire.

That was before the DHL announcement. I'll check the list again Wednesday to see if it has changed. I don't know how accurate or up-to-date this list is, but it does identify the planes by tail number and date scheduled for storage, and it has been accurate on ROW inputs that occurred earlier this year.

MC,
That is a fact ! From a couple sources: pilots flying sim support and those that teach there.
And yes I did move into my igloo near midtown ANC. And yes, that's a picture of me after my ex-wife said to me, "Why don't you go outside, the polar bears make great playmates.
I miss her like a rash.
FF
ps. Thanks Roberto for the info.

Roberto you seem to be a man in the know so here's some questions in regards to timing of this system bid and possible training slots:
1) How long, generally, does it take to get guys awarded a position into the schoolhouse?
2) How long, generally, does it take to get everyone trained on a given system bid.
3) If, hypothetically, there were original vacancies left after the displacement bid, what do you think the time frame would be for the schoolhouse to start calling people in from the pool.
While this may seem overly optimistic, I was wondering what time frame you would see someone from the pool going to the schoolhouse if there were still original vacancies left after the up coming displacement bid. Any ideas would be appreciated.
The reason I ask is there is an opportunity to sign a six month contract with a contracting service in the event that I get furloughed from my present employer and I would hate to have signed that contract in September only to be offered a class at UPS in October. I know, overly optimistic, but I can dream right :-).
