Stay in touch when they reconstitute a hiring department
Or get your sponsor to do so for you, if you have one. If not, you'll have to do it yourself.

From the IPA hotline.....

"First, management confirmed their intent to accomplish the expected additional flying by hiring IPA crewmembers and acquiring additional lift,” said Miller.

I did too because I couldn't get my medical fast enough and instead of 727FE I got ONT - worked out really well...

I'm glad you said you'll take the job at UPS no matter what because remember - they have a competitive pool and no one knows the actual formula. Let's say you get a combined score of 8 out of 10 (disclaimer, I'm guessing how the point system actually works) from your HR interview, your sim ride, total flight time, type of aircraft you've flown, checkride history, lack of enforcement actions, etc, etc.
Then you get a class date which you decide to postpone – ok so now what? When will they offer you the next class? After all, as long as they have poolies AND recent interviewees who score higher than 8 – you WILL be bypassed.

So do NOT turn down a class! Having said that, sometimes you have no choice; personally I couldn’t get my medical fast enough for a specific class and had to take the following class. In my case it “only” cost me 12 seniority numbers… On the other hand I was able to bypass the FE seat which was kind of unexpected but nice…

Also, as far as you delaying your class at the foreign carrier by up to 6 months… Personally, I’d do something quite the opposite; I’d interview now and start flying for them ASAP in order to start the 3-year clock ticking… Even with the DHL deal you just don’t know when the UPS call will come. Additionally, by starting flying heavy’s in an international arena you could possibly increase your chances of getting an earlier UPS class date simply because they like that kind of experience tremendously…

Just my worthless ½ ¢ on the subject. Good luck to you!
