This one's easy, take the UPS job, pay/forfeit the bond. You will never regret it.

We pretty much have concluded the same thing. If I get offered the job from the foreign carrier, I would delay my start for the six months they allow to buy us some time to see how things are shaping up.

Strange times we live in.

Good idea. That will give you a chance to lose 200 seniority numbers before they shut down hiring again. Forget the 30 grand. It's a drop in a potentially very large bucket.

That is what we thought too. It will just make that first lean year quite a bit leaner but well worth it in the end. I have a feeling the deal with DHL might shorten the wait. While getting out of the pool sooner than later would be great, I hate to see it at the expense of other pilots.

Thanks for everyone's input. It does help.

Two questions for those already at UPS:
1) Has anyone ever bypassed and how was it handled?
2) What kind of impact, if any, will the recent agreement with DHL have on need for additional pilots?

I also realize that anything is speculation at this point, but any input would be greatly appreciated as my family and I may have some difficult decisions to make over the next couple of months.

Thanking you in advance,
This could well be one of those Bud Light "dude" commercials....

Duuude...

If they offer you a class date take out an equity line to pay the training bond or find some dirtbag lawyer to get you out of it. You'll make up the difference pretty quickly IMO. In the meantime have a good time overseas.

I had a friend that went by that rule only to find out that they had forgotten him. Worse yet, at a job fair they said "why didn't you call us?"

Stay in touch when they reconstitute a hiring department

Wasn't there a person that deferred one class so as to avoid going to ANC, and took the next class and was awarded Ontario, Calif. ?

Was that you, Arch ?
