Thanks.
I read the practice bid award. Nearly, all of the awarded MD-11 Captain slots were people coming off the DC-10.

The TOP 5 MEM 727C awards were Secondary awards. How can there be secondary awards if they are excessing off the bottom??? There are Secondary Vacancies in other seats also. What am I missing here? I know that there is a contract guru that can quickly quote me the reference for this one.

I've already done that. That's why I have asked for help.

In the case of the 727, what has likely happened is that more people are bidding off the airplane and seat in question than would have been 'excessed'. They're treated as bidding to relieve the excess and go anywhere they can hold. If too many bid off then there are now a few vacancies on the airplane (to bring the manning up to the post bid level), that's where the secondary fills came in.

Oh and it's still just a practice bid -- it bears little resemblance to the actual award. Your results may vary.

All the 727 CAP seats were filled by people, either excessed or relieving the excess. I don't know why they're listed as secondaries. Those guys wouldn't have needed a secondary to be awarded that.

As far as a 727 F/O seat filled on a secondary by a non excessed guy...? I haven't got a clue. It may have something to do with their options, due to all the previous bid cancellations.

I understand that they are coming from an 'excessed' seat. I just don't understand why the show as a 'secondary vacancy' award when there are captains being forced out of the seats they currently hold.

Can anyone explain to me how someone junior to me in my seat gets awarded a seat that I bid to "Relieve Excess", but I stay where I am. Shouldn't my seniority allow me to get the seat before he does??

If that is the case, you need to contact Management or ALPA to get an answer. What seat are you talking about ?

Do you mind describing what your standing bid consisted of?
