Now you know how I felt when Bush was elected twice, and I will puke again if the person who helped co-author the bill that would decimate the RLA by taking away my right to strike and have someone else decide on my pay and workrules gets elected....(Baseball Style Arbitration). Greaaat.
PS I will puke if the socialist who thinks the tax structure is not about revenue generation but about stickin it to someone is elected.

"However, it does matter to me that DW and my former block rep didn't think it mattered what I thought."
I will agree with you and take it a step further. They not only didn't care what I thought, they tried to tell me that they were the one's doing "the right thing" thus saying any other point of view was wanting to do the wrong thing. I did not appreciate the not so subtle message sent about anyone who did not agree with them. A simple, "we appreciate other views here but the MEC has decided on a course of action and will proceed in that direction" would have been much easier to swallow. The problem is it is obvious other points of view are not appreciated by this MEC (i.e EI during the whole LOA deal). Anyway, I hate myself for wasting any more time posting on these issues but the truth is the decision made on retro will negatively effect the vast majority of us for many years to come in different ways and will always likely be raised when ever the next BOHICA as it's result comes down the track.

What I can't understand about this whole thing, is actually the company's action. Why have an excess bid? The company is clamoring about costs (ie it takes CEO aprroval for an extra 1,000 lbs of fuel), but how much is this excess bid going to cost in training cycles. The manning is going to be so out of whack, it will probably take 2 or 3 more excess bids to level it out. Which is more cost effective, being over manned in S/O seats or Widebody Capt seats? As far as the "right thing to do", from the company standpoint it has always been maximizing profit. If they really wanted to do that they would do a seat freeze. Determine the 757 and HKG vacancies, and simply do a regular vacancy bid. Plus, here is the feather in the cap for the company. The over 60 S/Os payrate is similar to what they would get in retirement, so it is cost neutral for the company.

And which president ordered AA back to work when they went on strike.
We all need to realize that neither party cares about labor. The Dems just say they do.

And neither party spends less, the Right just say they do. I've got a tax analysis of the three candidate's from a friend at UBS and there is no clear advantage. Obama actually looks the best from my socieconimic perspective. Surprised? I bet you are.
But that shouldn't matter, after all we're airline pilots. We need a labor friendly majority on the NMB, something we haven't had in 8 years. That and the fact that one candidate's blatant disdain for pilots is more and more evident (Google: McCain Airline Pilots, read for days) your choice should be easy come November.
Since this will pretty much close this thread, I'll throw in one more thing. Grow up, formulate your own opinion, reassess your situation, look at the big (global) picture, realize that this is many of our livelihoods. For a lot of guys at our airline it's not, it's their hobby after the military for an extra retirement.
What did Cheney say to Bush when oil spiked past $100 a barrell?

Open skies + User fees + higher Jet A taxes = "We just can't find Americans to do these jobs."
And Clinton did them a favor, forcing them back to work. They got to make their point, but it didn't cost them money. The perfect strike.

The big (global) picture is a whole lot bigger than the NMB!

The Dems and Republicans are basically the same, when you look at the big picture....socialist. As far as which Prez would be best for ALPA, depends on the phase of the moon...and influence.
