MD-11 vs Airbus

Hey Boy,
I'm one of those FOs who hand flew the departure out of EWR with you. You are right. It was a mistake. Your whining was shameless. I did not need to hand fly to impress you. After a month of flying with you, you were sufficiently embarrassed after all of my landings were consistently much better than yours. Thanks for buying dinner. It was a fun month.

OK grandpa, don't get the depends all wadded up.
Oh, I don't know. To possibly stay proficient? I know, it can be a hard concept to grasp.
Back in your day, did you have to carry your suitcase and your brain bag up in snow BOTH ways to the airplane? If so, where did you put the cat and the duck? Or was that ground service people's job to restock them on every leg?
Everyone pays dues in getting through life. Everyone. Yeah, I used to hand fly all the time, but that was because the planes I flew didn't have any autopilot. Hell, I was lucky they had an M-8. We could have used a cat and a duck for foul weather flying. But, now that the jets are all glass and have modern appliances, why would someone want to disregard that technology for the "experience" of hand flying? And hand flying every leg for that matter. Nuts.

This is all pretty funny - bragging about being able to "hand-fly" a takeoff, climb, descent, approach and landing. Ridiculous. Find something harder to brag about. Noone gets any extra points with me for hand flying - it's more about running the crew, being a good guy, and getting us there safely and legally. IMO, that's what it's all about.
And I also agree with some on this thread who find it odd that someone could be that senior and not know the differences between the bus and the MD.

QUOTE Goes211 1/13/08 in ref. to 08-01 bid
OK,, I know what opinions are like and that they all stink. My wife is driving me bananas about my award being cancelled. Anyone care to give an opinion as to what will happen in my (admittedly very specific) situation.. Treat it like an office pool maybe?
Here's the situation: I had an award for a domicile switch to Anchorage from Memphis. It was cancelled. I am projected to be fairly senior in the right seat up there (15%) and was in top 5 FOs for ANC on the cancelled bid. I've been with FedEx 7 years.
What I'm asking opinions about is the possibility of holding ANC again on this bid, or will the over 60s fill all front end seats including ANC 11F.
You must have meant to click on the "Jerk" thread. This thread is for professional pilots who like to discuss the different qualities of transport category aircraft and who have flown and been through both training programs in recent years. It should take about 2 secs to know your seat was gone, not 7 years. At least my wife doesn't tell me where to work. LOL

Nowake, "the jerk store called and they're runnin' out of YOU!" Nice job responding so quickly (sarcasm). That was truly Costanza-like. I guess it took you so long to respond because you had to research all my previous posts.
Two different situations, pal.
My issue: I was asking advice about how an unseen and unprecedented event was going to play out. My ANC bid was cancelled. That's never happened. And as an aside, I asked for advice because I already had a lease on a house up there and was looking at having to pay rent for a home that I couldn't occupy because of the cancellation.
Your issue: Sitting in the back seat or right seat of the boeing or -10 (you haven't told us which as far as I know) for 10 years at least, you are finally getting off your butt to get to a widebody. You have great seniority and can hold nice stuff on either jet. This topic is not unseen or unprecedented. It has been discussed ad nauseam in cockpits and on this board. It is not uncommon.
In addition, you must realize that you contradicted yourself when it comes to being professional. It was annoying hearing your self-aggrandizing attitude about which jet to fly. Just bid. You were preening, but I shouldn't have called you a dork at the end of that post. However, you surely shouldn't have insulted me about my wife. I wasn't professional by calling you a name but you, sir, were worse with the wife comment.
Your original post was like the good-looking guy in the fraternity whining about which hot sorority girl to nail. Sorry but that's how I saw it.

Yep. You fooled me with your inability to properly do a multi-quote. You should definitely stick to the 'bus. This high tech stuff seems too complex for you.
And now for Goes211. Read my previous post. If you've been here seven years you should no better.
