Understood your point before my post. People just don't need to post on a message board about their "dilemma" which pales compared to others at our company.

I would never presume to think anyone else's concerns are any concern of yours. I've been around FedEx long enough to know the selfishness of many on our pilots.

So true seefive. Though I realize fdx727pilot doesn't mean it based on his previous postings, these are the types of excuses guys use to fly dps, etc and screw their buds. Their is a happy medium. Hey at least you can go fly Fred, right. I think an aft kneel would be appropriate at this point.

I couldn't agree with you more. We can discuss all day long but at the end of the day we have a job at the top of the food chain. We can always find the negative but should really look at the glass half full.

DW will certainly applaud your attitude. He needs more of this type of thinking.

The economy has taken about 1/4 of your glass. Missteps by those 'protecting' and representing our best interests have spilled the other 1/4. But, as you say, it is still half full. Thanks pretty much to the industry we operate in, and the company we work for.

I find it ironic that while ALPA is looking at who they should endorse to make sure the next US President is as "Pilot-career friendly" as possible, DW has single-handedly done more damage to the financial aspect of my career than any politician from either party.
With you, man. I for one do not plan to look on the sunny side of this debacle.

I'm about 100 from the top on the 727 FO list, and I'll probably bid to relieve excess this time. There were 20-30 who bid last time and had their bids cancelled. I think the shrinking bid pack and deterioriating quality of some of the 727 lines will encourage enough folks off the top that excess bids won't be necessary. Again--this is just one line guy's bet.

I don't know a lot of senior 727 captains personally, but I've seen a trend of LCAs that I know going ahead and moving over to WBs, and I expect a few line captains to probably look hard at the option this time. The reason is this may be the last bid for a few years, and it they do need to start worrying about high 5 its probably time to get busy.

Jackal...I cannot predict with any certainty what will happen, but I can say you'll get 3 snapshots with the practice bid. Probably not worth getting too worked up yet until we start seeing how those things shape up.

Why bother waiting for the answer (or looking in the contract)
when you can jump to conclusions or make assumptions

Not true. Most people who pay extra on an 30 year mortgage are paying extra on the principle. There isn't any advantage to paying early on the interest... no advantage to the payee anyway.

True, but buying a new house and then losing it to foreclosure is probably consuming as much time in his mind as being stuck in the back of the Jurassic Jet for another year or two (or the left seat for yours truly) does in yours. Assuming we take Cassel at his word about no furloughs, no one has to worry about unemployment. So after that, its all a matter of, do you have a good paying position at great job, or a great paying position at a great job?
