Me too!!
I had to go to the hospital because I had become so dehydrated. I couldn't leave the next morning to go home, too weak. Spoke with my ACP and the hotel was taken care of by the company (not against my deviation bank).
The biggest caveat is the FOX system. When you put in for the deadhead to Memphis (or home), it shows that it is being done on sick time. It is a couple of hoops to jump through, i.e., checking the approved fare, notating the comments, etc. It will take a few days to have the expense report clear (so do it early than on the very last day).
It was very unpleasant being sick, but I have to say FDX made sure I was well and made sure I could go home. I hope it never happens again, but the company was great.

You don't have to wait for the pairing to be rebuilt. When you are ready to travel call up Global Travel and book a ticket. Crew scheds will build the pairing whether you are in your room or on a plane coming home. I did this in NRT one time and I didn't wait for any pairing to be rebuilt. I just booked a flight when I was ready to travel.

The sick program is great; unfortunately I had to use the Bereavement Absence recently. The 18 hours is great but they leave you where you are. No DH home no hotel till the morning, for me it was in the middle of an indie hub turn.
Not complaining, the company is great about it, just a craniums up.

Other than that I agree, the ACPs and the company have been very good to me when it comes to issues like this. It seems like this is the one thing that is actually under their control.

JJ probably meant it the way he typed it. He has always seemed to be extremely
anal about his correctness.
Unless JJ's first name is Marcus.....

Fedupbusdriver,
You're incorrect, in that I made a mistake in the spelling of Krystal, spelling it Crystal by accident. Actually that's the second mistake I've made in the past few days, the first was in thinking that you weren't such a dick. By the way, if you think that my posts are anal because of their "correctness", I'll take that as a compliment. Thank you.

I really have no problem with someone pointing out that I've made a mistake in my spelling, punctuation, or in any other regard, for that matter. I do always try to write (and speak) correctly. Spell checker helps, but it's no be-all/end-all. It's just another tool to help us look more professional in the eyes of our peers. My son, whose an attorney, spent his entire adolescent life listening to me tell him to "pay attention to the details." After graduating in the top 10% of his law school class, and passing the bar on the first try, he finally thanked me for that advice.
How many of you have shot a CAT II/III in the simulator, only to be sent around because the PNF/PM didn't catch the fact that the rising runway was offset, or that some other required parameter was missed, either by yourself or the other pilot or flight engineer. Sucks, huh. We can strive for perfection in what we do, or how we represent ourselves, or we can accept a lesser standard. Personally, I always strive to do the best that I can do. That's not to say I don't make mistakes, because I certainly make my share of them, but I try to learn from them and not repeat the same mistake more than 3 or 4 times.
