FDX-More good news on the FDA's

Oh, and for those of you about to live in HKG, please be vewwy, vewwy careful. Screw up over there and you (and your family) are a guest of the PRC. No U.S. Bill of Rights, no military Status of Forces Agreement, no diplomatic immunity, or other protections we CONUS-based folks take for granted. The embassy consular officer might visit you once a week. But, based on personal experience, that same U.S. Embassy has as its first priority preserving "good relations" between the U.S. and the host nation--foregoing your best interests if required. Caveat emptor--bidder beware!

I have no dog in the FedEx LOA hunt, although this argument is one that is prevalent throughout the industry, that is: Should labor subsidize growth of the company or cost to the consumer?
The answer from labor is obvious, although how do you convert the non-believers who feel absent their "heroic efforts" to give back contractual gains - the company will fail?

Guys that voted yes did so for their own self interest. They want the company to thrive and grow. We all want the company to thrive, so it makes sense in that sort of way. That is the first step in selling, BTW. Get the customer to agree to some sort of idea.
But these guys who inspire a guilt trip are also like the DP flyers. They come up with the darndest reasoning to justify an action that is, in fact, selfish. Comments like they don't want to hurt the guys who want to go actually mean they want someone to go (not them) but they don't want to spend any of the money that might be taken out of THEIR future contract raises.
DP flyers employ the same tactic. "I can't find anything in open time and I need the money" But they don't mention they don't even look, or care. They don't care that most of us leave those international DPs in open time while we fly less and get only domestic trips. It's as if they think we are leaving those tirps in open time just for them. Right......

In our case the labor answer was not obvious. Our labor position was bent over the table.

Surprise, surprise, surprise (said in his best Gomer Pyle voice). Not really actually, this kind of info was available during LOA negotiations without ever leaving MEM...if anyone had cared to look. It's only going to get worse....

P.S. Skypine, where did you get your bag tags? More importantly, how can I get a few?

I never had any intention of voting for either FDA but at least I read the LOA, asked questions and made an informed decision. Others are now realizing their apathetic votes were misguided and not revealing or denying how they voted.

I had a flight with a VERY senior captain in the jumpseat, who was amazed that the S/O who bid HK to get out of the back wasn't going to get the tax exemption.
I was amazed that the Captain obviously had not read the LOA nor done even a cursory amount of research on in it. (No, they weren't on the MEC!)
I guess its just not important if you aren't planning on bidding it.

Bag Tag Guys:
I went to www.crewtags.com
then, on the left, click "create a tag"
Personally, I then chose "black txt on white plastic".
Then, on line 1, I wrote "Proud to be"
and on line 2, I wrote 32%!"
The preview on the next page will look a little off (will just be 2 lines of small black font)
Go all the way through check out, and then at the very end, you will find a box for "Comments, questions, suggestions?
Special shipping instructions?"
I wrote in that something to the effect of "please make the "32%" in a very large, red font".
And boom, a week later for 15 bucks I had two new bag tags:
I scanned one of them, you could probably email the lady and tell her just to make these:
