Default Ups New Hire Class For Feb- 3 Pilots

Wow. 3 new hires for a whole month. Trust me, Go, no make that run to Purple. At this rate, Upgrade will go from 10 years to 15. And FDX just had a System Bid for 200 openings. Do you want to be a Captain in 4 years or 14? And as a bonus, you have jerkoffs like Barr and Barnes telling you who riding on your airplane.

UPS has scheduled two more New Hire classes for February.

Classes are planned February 9 for 6 DC8 S/Os and February 14 for 3 757 F/Os.

The DC8 class must have just been approved. Still, a total of 9 new hires is pathetic. Let's do the math. 90 retirements this year, 9 new aircraft delivered, DC8's and 727 coming back from the desert, and a contract that will most likely put a limit on Line construction. And about 100+ FE's finally retireing.

Either were going to buy somebody, or this place is run by idiots. 9 a month, totals 108 new hires. Only about 250 short. Typical.

I would say typical in that this is an airline being run by a trucking company pulling down almost 4 billion a year. That doesn't sound all that shabby.

Just so you all know, The only pilots being hired now are from numbers that were approved for last year. Thats right. 300 new hires announced for last year and only about 266 were actually brought onboard. These little classes of 3's and 6's are slowly picking away at the total of 300 from LAST YEARS NUMBERS... ITS COMPLETELY PATHETIC. This is the largest shipping company in the world, but not for long (your welcome FedEx and DHL) Dont be impressed, Im not...

Oh yeah, by the way, FedEx is hiring 70 a month for the forseeable future. UPS has NEVER hired 70 in one month... If offered the job at UPS and FedEx, I say take the job at UPS, and then once you have been in class for 1-2 months, tell them your leaving for FedEx or SWA. Everyone else is doing it and the funny thing is they dont understand why...

I do not think UPS is going to buy anybody. As for the hiring numbers, all I can surmise is based on my own experience sitting on RSVB in SDF flipping through the cable channels. I would love to fly more. But crew scheds is not calling. Do they not need the bodies? Maybe so. This could be a direct result of Supply Chain Solutions outsourcing the flying. Therefore, our hiring numbers would be much lower then FedExs'.

Talking I thought I was the only one...

I thought I was the only one who has the cable show line up memorized! And get this: sat 8 days of RSVB, did a 4hour sim support as my only assignment, then finally get home for a short break, and low and behold, Amargeddon arrives! Cellphone rings and its crew scheduling calling to JA DC8 FEs!?! I don't think so; unavailable!!!!!!
