Default UPS Realignment/Displacement Bids!!

Look for a realignment and displacement bid to be released tomorrow by UPS. All crew members on the 757/767, 747, 747-400, and MD-11 will be affected. ONT, SDF, SDFZ and ANC domiciles will be involved in the new bids.

The bids are due to the retirement of the 747 classic by the end of 2008, several DC-8 aircraft being placed into retirement and the passing of HR-4343, the age 65 rule.

Any advanced numbers for us to ponder? Are we still looking at 40 747-400 Capt vacancies in ANC as the only true vacancies?

Ok thanks, I posted this on another link but I would like to pick everyone's brain a bit:
1) How long does such a posting stay open?
2) How long does the company have to process the results after the bids close?
3) How long does it take for training scheduling to post a tentative training schedule so that people can plan their "go to training" date?
4) Do they ever send new hires/junior people to training prior to completing all of the existing seat "musical chair" re-alignments?
4) Any updates on the completion of the training center in Anchorage?

and then as a side note,

I read somewhere that there was a moving package being offered to people who sign a 3 year deal to stay in ANC as MD11 FOs that included moving costs and a monthly housing stipend for probationary pilots during their first year. Was this being offered to new hires in the MD11 as well, or only to people on property? Since it doesn't seem like anyone is going to be able to bid out of ANC once they go there due to the number of upcoming displacements in the foreseeable future, is the company still offering guys the moving package, in particular the housing stipend?

Thanks for any info.
Jay

I would say that all crew members in every base will be affected. The domino affect will hit all fleets and seat in all bases.

You forgot about MIA. Then again they are in their own little world. A good world that this. I can't wait to see what the bid package says. Keeps this place interesting.

2 weeks from posting for the initial award, then another 2 weeks for the Displacement bid---- so 28 days from the posting to see the damage.

Waiting to see where the chips will fall....

I agree. If DC-8's are being parked, I would add DC-8 crew members to those affected.

Unfortunately, it is not IF, but HOW MANY. Just last week, 2 went to ROW, and according to the UPS rep out there, they are NOT coming back. I'm sure there will be more...

Does anyone know the net effect on the fleet....

How many classics left -and- how many proposed DC8 to be parked.

I believe I read we are getting (7) 747-400s and (5) MD11s this year.

My current bid package says we have 9 Classics and 41 DC8s. I realize the Mighty Eight is a three man airplane also.

Thanks in advance,

FF
