Default Sort Tonight

For those of you actually in Memphis, The Weather Channel just stated that the Memphis Airport Fire Department had the roof blown off due to the recent storm. Is this true?

Any ideas how this will affect Ops tonight (and even tomorrow)??

Just curious if there was any damage to the equipment. That could affect the pax airlines.....regs require certain types of equipment available based on the seat config of the aircraft.

I just talked to a FedEx contact. The roof did come off at 1830 local but no damage that will delay the sort. They are watching another line due in about sort time. If any equipment would have been damaged, I bet FedEx has backup equipment to keep the entire airport open.

If you are watching the local memphis news you'd think the apocalypse was happening.

I lived in OKC during the 1999 and 2003 tornado and their coverage was nothing like this.

But there are a lot of storms tonight, the inbound should be interesting.

Also, the news did say one FedEx hangar had its roof blown off, but no pics yet.

There is significant damage, especially near the airport (Hickory Ridge Mall and in Southaven). This damage is from pop up storms ahead of the cold front. Unfortunately, the massive squall line is still coming and will hit Memphis within the hour.

I'm sitting in Narita (where it only snowing) watching the radar on CNN of a line of T-Storms moving through. Be careful out there...this one looks ugly!

The storms have been pretty bad, there are some fatalities reported already.

Anyone at the AOC right now have any idea how much of a delay this is causing? My show time is in three hours

Heard the Firehouse roof crushed quite a few of our De-ice trucks. More to come...
