Default FDX - A Moment of Clarity

A brief moment of entertaining clarity:

Grown men, perhaps a majority of the FedEx ALPA membership, continue to wish for the elimination of their older "brethren" so that they can move up a number and enhance their lifestyles. In the same breath, these "union" members express outrage at pilots who fly disputed pairings to enhance theirs.

And everybody wonders why the company walks over them at every strategic turn. This is nothing but good old-fashioned entertainment.

Gentlemen, start your every-man-for-himself engines. The race to the bottom is on.

Come on moderators, how about locking this thread as it's a repeat of a previous one that everybody is ignoring??

It does not appear that you are ignoring it. I think that someone is starting to get really bothered by the truth.

Let's grow up a little. If you have a specific point that you disagree with, state it. Censorship of the kind you desire just does not work.

Here's an idea, how about NOT commenting on threads you don't agree with....that way it'll sink to the bottom and off the front page?

Bob, It's only the truth in your mind. And as far as growing up, look in the mirror, stop acting like a child, and pay your dues. To me it just sounds like you're making excuses why it's OK to fly DP's. As far as censorship goes, I didn't say stop your posting, just lock it so we don't have to waste our time responding to this thread as you ALREADY brought up this point in your LAST thread that people are ignoring.
What's the problem, don't like to be ignored. Give it up and grow up.

Good solid comeback.

Like I said, if you would like to discuss a specific point that I have made, by all means do it. Otherwise, you come across just like Armis, always criticizing and never making a point.

I use this board only to make a public statment, not to convince. Each reader will make up his or her own mind based on the information he or she has. If people care to continue down the same path, that is fine with me. But, as I understand it, this board is not just for union members or lemmings who think that being a member of ALPA has anything to do with unity.

To help you along a bit, my clear point is not to justify flying DPs (which, I assume, are flown mostly by union members), it is to show why they are flown. And the reason they are flown is exactly the same reason that pilots want to get rid of their "senior" counterparts...that is, to get themselves a better deal. Whether it is at someone else's expense is of little concern. It is that simple.

All of this has nothing to do with age, it has to do with an imbalance in pay and working conditions that forces people to break with their brethren. My view is that all the talk in the world about unity cannot overcome the economic incentives that WE have allowed to remain in place since deregulation. The clear incentive is to act in one's own best interest.

The incentive to fly DPs and get rid of senior pilots is exactly the same economic incentive that sucked 450 ALPA brethren across our picket line at CAL. It is a "scab" mentality that has become economically institutionalized and it still in place today. Unity cannot exist in this environment. You can have wide differentials in pay and working conditions or you can have Unity, but in the open and "deregulated" marketplace, you cannot have both.

Do you not see how the economics play such a strong part in this?

Bob

I see three options with respect to these RJ threads:

1) Report the thread and give a solid reason why they should be moderated.
2) Ignore the guy, either with or without the ignore function.
3) Debate with him in a respectable manner.

My point is, I am critical of you because what you represent. You represent all the folks who want a free ride, all the folks who think they are smarter than everyone else, all the folks who want to give orders but not carry their fair share. The people on this board don't like you because of what you are, not who you are. You represent many of the things that people have found repugnant their whole lives. Giving any credence to the rantings of a non-dues paying non-member, would be like inviting UBL to speak at ground zero. You're like that wacky guy standing outside the stadium, yelling to all the paying customers that you should be the starting quarterback. That's my point. Bobbie, here's your sign!

I'm not sure which FAR covers DP's, but there was one that covered the retirement age.....one that everyone who moved up the ladder prior to 13 DEC benefitted from.

I anxiously await your post referring to the exact FAR that covers DP's....
