Sorry for the repeat, but I forgot the above quote!
I hope that by your 3 smiley faces that you are joking. Reserves have always gotten the shaft when it comes to pay. If we got swept into an airport and you are on your "line" and I am on reserve, even though it is now my line too, I don't get any extra pay like you will. I won't get any overage pay if on reserve.
The fact that reserves get first choice in CIC is odd. But just like substitution, it can turn the most senior guy into anything the company wants. Do I take advantage of it, of course. But I would bet that you take advantage of any contractual "advantage " you have too. Do I feel I'm screwing other pilots, no way! I'm senior to more than half of our pilots. Not a stab, or brag (big friggin deal). But I choose to live in MEM for the quality of life (easy working cond.), and I bid reserve. I figure that if I get and extra 4 days off a month, I've won the game. Yet to do this, I put up with the crappy trips you don't want to fly, and I get paid less to do it. So please don't condemn all the people who either choose to fly reserve or can't hold anything but it and say you want to screw them on the next contract just because you can't live in the mountains and get your double deadheads too. If you don't like it, bid something besides VTO. It's always been a crap shoot anyway.

And, you are correct. These (), usually mean you're trying to be sarcastic.

Loook....
You are only forced to be junior once. After that it is completely up to you!
Nobody is forcing anybody to be a commuter or live in memphis...It's your choice.
I lived in Memphis for 5yrs and did the reserve carryover thing.
I decide to get a life.
Now I'm a commuter, and don't get that good deal!
Life is Good!
My choice.
Make yours... and live with it.

Day turns to the home city, sleeping in your own bed every night.........
Oakland Stdby's where you work on your airplane all day, come in and eat pizza and watch a movie during the 5-hour airport stdby (that rarely goes anywhere), then go back home in time for the evening news.......
Options change over time - but not continually to the benefit of any single group. We're lucky to be in an industry where most can choose where they want to live, and actually live there. We should not forget that.

We do have it good. Can't do the reserve carryover thing at Delta or United.
Reserve is getting an unfair good deal? Is 4:30 a day a good deal? I don't think so.
Why are our VTO procedures so awful? We need to ask BC about that. I think he ran out of gas after he negotiated grid penalties.
Anyone who talks about PBS here has got to be off their rocker...

Why the heartburn to protect carryover CIC. I am not saying you should lose your ability to bid blg + 40 hours. Just lose the chance to suck all the good trips out of the pot before the guys that are trying to make BLG.

Must be good to be so senior. But what does the above have to do with slugging it out near the bottom with reserve and VTO lines? We won't see the above for close to 10 years.
Things may change over time, but time will now stand still for 3 to 5 years.

So you always have an opportunity to bid to keep your BLG.
Do you actually check open time? Do you use general makeup request? It's not impossible to pick up trips.
I thought this argument was about VTOs getting crappy trips. I don't think that is necessarily right. But the NC decided it wasn't important to work on.

Just because I am taking advantage of it doesn't make it right. I have looked at the top of the VTO list; and I wouldn't wish some of those lines on non-member not on dues check-off. I think any trips over BLG should be fought for with regular open time not with the plum trips taken from the pot before the VTOs are built.
