Future of the DC-8?

2 man DC8
Air Canada operated the DC-8 with 2 man crew. The fO's chair slid back to the FE position and the FO did the FE's job when needed. There were a few repeater gauges on the captain's left side. The airplanes are now operated by ATI, and when those airframes came back to the US, the FAA would not approve the 2 man DC-8 and ATI had to reinstall the engineer seat.

I believe N802UP was originally Air Canada and had the rails for the FO seat to slide back and the hydraulic gauges on the FO's instrument panel, when it first came on the property. It is now virtually indistinguishable from the rest of the fleet.
