For starters, about 100 or so people...nice turnout! Started out with DW talking about all the things going on right now. He gave some really good information on the how and why of the bid cancellation. (If they would put it out to everyone there would be a lot less angst over this). In a nutshell...running 07-02 and 07-03 was a mistake. FX got blindsided by the age 65 thing although others were hinting that something was about to happen.

Moved on to PC's "Christmas Card". Again paraphrasing, no near term reduction in BLG or "F"s...he didn't define the timeline he was looking at. I was there with several other very junior folks and we all came away feeling much better about our position at the company. Additionally, DW said that the union was going to fight hard for the junior folks, which was nice to hear. (Keep in mind I am paraphrasing so these are my words, not his.)

The R & I brief was good and it was mentioned several times that they were being forward looking in their pursuits over the past several years. Some examples were given to back this up.

The ALPA National guy gave a good brief, but I came away feeling as if FX gets so much national attention now because of the money we (some of the FX pilots) contribute to ALPA-PAC as well as the amount of dues we pay.

Overall... not a heated battle as I had anticipated. DW was fairly articulate and only danced around the issue on a question or two, otherwise he was very informative. Now if they could just get this info out to the crew force in general...I think there would be a lot less backlash about some of these issues.

Thats most of what I can recall, please feel free to correct any of my misconceptions or add more detail!!

Ditto. I got the impression the Union will fight any BLG reduction. He reiterated that via the contract FDX cannot reduce our BLG unless they first provide the union with an official notice that it intend to or needs to furlough. That hasn't happened yet and DW said PC told him that it is not on the horizon. He also gave some not so subtle hints that the crew force better not fly an overtime, draft, or VLT IF the company reduces our BLG. I left confident that we won't see a BLG reduction anytime soon.

I thought I was going to barf during the lobbyist's presentation. Just what we need is another rehash of the history of the age change. The change is old news, it is time to move forward. My stomach still hurts from the blow but I don't need to hear the MEC's version of the story at every fricken meeting.

I was very happy to hear DW's comments in regard to the possible BLG reduction and furloughs. It sounds to me also like they have finally decided to step up and protect the rights of all the crewforce, not just the over 53 international widebody Captains. I was encouraged that they may, just may, be finally getting a bit of a sense of the dismay and unrest that is rampant among the junior half of the seniority list right now.

DW is a polished speaker, and would make an excellent used car salesman. He talked a very good game today. I hope that he and the rest of the MEC follow through with their rhetoric in this case and tells the company to pack it up there sideways if they try to reduce the BLG. Then he needs to tell US that we will reduce/eliminate carryover and such before any concession is made by US on BLG.

Cost for a court reporter / stenographer roughly $20-25 / hr (http://www.payscale.com/research/US/.../Hourly_Rate)?

Any chance to get some real transcripts of these meetings?

I got an Email from my block rep today about Sunday's townhall meeting. It was Timely, Informative, and Greatly Appreciated (caps only for added emphasis ) Perhaps the pendulum is swinging our way .

Nobody listens to what I preach if I don't. I've insisted alpa respond to anything that has occurred withing the last month and they keep digging themselves in a foxhole. If anything we're getting leaks of alpa telling us to be scared and the company being the people actually telling us to settle down.

Made You Post.
