Question FDX Does this autopilot work?

I'm thinking about joining the autopilot program at Airways Advisor. I've found that I'm basically too lazy to check the funds on a regular basis, or recently, I've been afraid to look. Does anybody have experience with the autopilot program? If so, what does it cost? Is it worth it? Any trust issues?

Default effort required

You know what they say, nothing in life worth having is easy.

If you are lazy, keep it simple and invest in a few mutual funds, dollar cost average and realize there will be down periods (like now).

If you are willing to work at it, then it is time to do research and figure out what investing system you want to you.

There are hundreds of systems out there, the key is sticking to the system, as soon as you screw with it thinking you can do better, you will likely lose.

So far I'm happy with it. I'm down a little in the last 30 days, but so are most people. Fees start at 2% for the first 100k, 1.75% for the next 150K, 1.25% for the next 150K,.....Billed every 3 months.

FrozenBoxHauler -

I have looked over the expenses several times, and can never seem to get myself to commit to them. In fact, I was just looking at it AGAIN this morning; still having a hard time with the fees. I, like so many other, don't seem to have the time (or smarts) to constantly tweek my Vanguard stuff. My biggest worry is that after a 25 years career...oops, make it a 30 year career, I will look back and think "Man, I really didn't know what the h#ll I was doing with these investments."

How long have you been with the Advisor folks? Without getting too personal, do you feel as if their services are worth the fees? Have they done well for you? Do feel like your porfolio has done better with them at the helm as opposed to how it might do if you were going solo? Any additional info you might be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.

No worries, Herk. I've been using them for about five years now. A smart friend told me how he had lost a lot while being out of the US for extended periods, either by not getting out or not getting into the market. I've been averaging about 12% in the last two years until fairly recently. Prior to that, it was about 17%. Now it's about 7% and I'm starting to wonder if I can do better. I'm going to give that fellow in Collierville ( a couple of posts back) a call. I'm sure that they do a better job than I can do. I tend to forget about it until something "big" happens in the world, and by that time,...too late. I lost about 35% of my stuff after 9/11. They might have been able to loose less. Hope this helps.

Default I recommend

Legacy Wealth Management in Germantown. I went with them when I was a commuter. I am very happy with what they have done for me. After 911, I was down max 15% and over time have averaged reasonable returns.

They also advised me on my 401k/B Fund allocation. Their recommendation has held very well. I had to re-allocate for the first time just a few months ago after leaving everything basically the same for the last 6 years with only regular contributions. IRR for Vanguard funds was consitently in the 17 - 19% range throughout the last 6 years until this last month....that dragged down the average quite a bit. now I'm showing 13% since inception.

If Interested PM me or Google them.

My advisor has been doing my allocation for several years now and other fedex pilots as well starting out at 60-75 basis points(50 would be 1/2%; 75 being 3/4%). If you have regular investment account with him he only charges 50 basis points. He charges 1% from $25,000 to infinity on his SAM accounts(regular investment accounts) billed quarterly with no increase for more money and is versed in our 401k funds(group rate for Fedex pilots with above listed basis points.) He has several Fedex pilots as clients and a few Northwest that I know of. He is very familiar with our Company, our 401K, the funds in it, and how our pension plan works. He's got pilots ranging from about to retire to guys that have been at fedex from only a few years. He comes to Memphis 1-2 month to meet with clients.
