Opinions on ANC transfer situation? Anyone?

IMO.....this re-bid is SOLELY to allow all the over 60s to "exercise their seniority" and get back to the front (left or right) seats under the guise of changing economic conditions, blah, blah, blah.... - what other possible reason could there be for the "re-do"?

Well, that may be your opinion, but it really has more to do with mitigating multiple training costs and avoiding the eventual excess with the near deads exercising their seniority.
Imagine if the bid stood, then the neardeads were excessed and created an excess in another seat that then caused someone to get displaced after training for the aircraft they were just excessed from. (I know there is some verbage which limits movement to an FDA that would create and excess at the FDA, so whether ANC should have been included in the cancellation is up to those who would rather debate on here than have a life).
I would like to see the old relics just go away gracefully, but if that ain't gonna happen, then this is the smartest way to absorb them....as disappointing as it is.
It's a bummer, it sucks, maybe coulda been anticipated, but from this position, it is probably the best way to go from here.
I realize there will be the inevitable rebuttal to this....I probably won't read it anytime soon....
On another note....don't you think Romo, when asked this weekend about Jessica Simpson and Mexico is privately thinking...."heck yeah it was worth it!"
That guy probably got more penetration than the whole Giant's Defensive line.

If there are no ANC F/O positions open, I doubt very much if any over 60 guys will bid, let alone hold any F/O slots in ANC. There's still going to be probably 5 or so SFS F/Os going to ANC right seat on the (RE) Excess from Subic. They will fill any of the possible secondaries in ANC first, before any others will be filled.

This isn't the best way to absorb them LJ. All the company has to do is offer a vacancy bid to fill the seats in the FDA's, and leave the excess in the SO seats.
I don't know what the company is thinking. If We are overmanned in almost all seats, why would the company want to overman the left seats any more and pay Capt wages.
If I were doing this I would leave the neardeads in the back and pay them the SO pay. Let it be known that we will not excess off the 10, and see just how many of them will stay knowing that they will be plumbing for the next 5 years. That should help somewhat with our excess pilot numbers

[quote=AFW_MD11;299132]prepare to be surprised then.
But, if there ARE secondary F/O vacancies created, you can BET there will be some over 60s that would settle for that job over their S/O seat in MEM.

Agree...I know several of the over 60 S/Os who were MD-11 F/Os when they turned 60 so they would be simply returning to their previous seat and the Capts seat might be more trouble than it's worth. Also, their seniority in the right seat will be WAY MORE BETTER and when they approach 63, they can bid Capt and get passover for the next two years.
Agree again. The only logical reason I have heard for the re-bid is to provide seats for the ROPEs that would've gotten them anyway through an excess bid. Cancelling the training for the already awarded slots was a business decision to try and manage the coming overmanning caused by the excess bids. In defense of PC, he gets paid to make business decisions and protect the bottom line. If he doesn't, he's gone. He didn't create this problem, DW did and it sits squarely in his lap. Had DW not slipped us the shiv, all the ROPEs would be looking at two choices, back of the 727 or retirement. Instead, they are looking at Capt training or passover pay. Anybody think PC is happy with that? (before anybody goes nuclear, I realize that PCs "business decision", has disrupted lives, cost a lot of folks a lot of money, caused anxiety all around and delayed or cancelled many family decisions. Sadly, it was done to us by someone who's job is to represent the interests of the majority, not the few)
