I think Boeing has taken the last order for a "new" 747-400. I believe it rolls off the production line in the next couple of years. Bueller?

Rolls off this year.
They resequenced the construction order of 747-800s so that they don't have two sub-types on the floor at the same time. So, last 400 this year. First 800 early next year.

Besides, think about it, why buy an airline that doesn’t fit your flying style? Atlas/Polar are charter ACMI, and if UPS needed the lift, they would just buy more airplanes, and offer jobs to 747-400 qualified pilots.

Nothing prevents UPS from changing the way an acquired company operates. As for the -400s, why do you think UPS purchased 2 -400s from CargoLux? Maybe because the company couldn't just buy new aircraft? Granted UPS is one of the few cargo companies which chooses to purchase new aircraft rather than buy old and convert (like DHL does). As for the capital of UPS, I doubt very few pilots know exactly how much capital the company has. We do know that UPS is raising 10B for something...but what?

For the 19 millionth time...there is no such animal as the -800!!!!
It is the 747-8, plain and simple. It is used to show its technological tie-in to the 787.

That's too fancy and possibly confusing for guys who still think the stuff on their DC8 is real "glass".
